honestly they had no choice but to sign mccaan. they have no one in their farm system and they were not going to go another year with chris stewart being their starting catcher. in fact their farm system in general is extremely bad. this loss doesn't surprise me at all. i knew the mets bats were gonna wake up against the yankees. im expecting them to get swept again as a matter of fact.

If I'm Alderson, I'm pushing a Dillon Gee for CJ Cron trade with the Angels and I'm pushing a Bartolo Colon trade for Joc Pederson.

Cron is blocked by Pujols. Pederson blocked by 4 other outfielders.

Angels and Dodgers both Wild Card leaders. They need a little bit to push them over the top. Gee and Colon are our best pitchers. Warrant at least a blue chip prospect a piece.

Yankees projected to sign three of top five international free agents

By Michael Axisa

According to Ben Badler (subs. req’d), the Yankees are projected to sign three of the top five and four of the top ten international prospects once the signing period opens on July 2nd. Those prospects are Dominican SS Dermis Garcia (ranked 2nd), Dominican 3B Nelson Gomez (3rd), Dominican OF Juan De Leon (5th), and Venezuelan OF Jonathan Amundaray (10th).

We first heard the Yankees connected to those players (as well as several others) a few weeks ago. The team reportedly has agreements already in place with Garcia ($3.6M) and Gomez ($2.8M). In another piece (subs. req’d), Balder quotes several scouts who believe De Leon can become a true impact player down the line. “When it’s all said and done, he might be the best of all these guys,” said one scout. “He’s got five-tool potential with three of those tools (power, speed, defense) potentially plus.”

The Yankees were allotted only $2.2M for international free agency this summer, but they are going to blow right past that with their reported agreements. Reports of a international spending spree worth upwards of $30M (bonuses plus penalties) have been going around since the winter. The Yankees took higher probability pitchers in the draft two weeks ago, and it appears they’re going to balance things out with several high-upside international position players next month.

I took Tanaka in the 9th round of my fantasy draft, sort of a reach as he was estimated to go in the 16th, but it has paid off in spades. My team is undefeated thus far :yo:

Colon for Pederson might be an even bigger heist than Dickey for Noah.

No way that happens.

Ive seen worse trades happen - cough cough Zambrano for Kazmir.

Pederson is blocked by 4 other guys, and only one of them is playing particularly well. After that, they can't get rid of the other 3 because of how horrendous their contracts/playing performances are.

Prospects are worse less than veterans if their ceilings are relatively similar. The price the Dodgers would have to pay for getting a top of the rotation starter for 1.5 years would be their best prospect. In return they give a guy who has the potential to become a star in the OF but who would make the Mets bear more risk and time to get those services.

Colon for Pederson. Gee for Cron.

Tino getting a plaque before Bernie, and the fact that Nettles and Winfield don't even have one is a joke.

Loved Tino. He made the Mattingly transition easy. He was also an excellent defender.

But I'm wondering why Nettles isn't there. Winfield was probably in George's will to keep him out, but he was dominant as a Yankee.

i think the offense will be fine. so far ellsbury is looking good and this solarte guy is playing great.

It'll come around. The fact that the rotation is looking great is a very good sign for the Yankees.

Yup. Bats always take longer to come around. At this point, pitching is the most important thing in terms of looks. And the first time through the rotation was impressive, outside of CC.

And really, no all-stars? McCann will be very good, especially with the DH giving him more days off. Beltran is unreal, did you miss his stat-line the past.....decade? Gardner is a borderline all-star. Soriano isn't an all-star anymore, but he's had 2 years in a row of 30+ homers and 100+ RBI's.

2B and 3B leaves something to be desired, but Solarte looks great thus far and Roberts/Johnson/Ryan are very good cusp starters. Certainly not AAA players.

This team is deep and if the pitching this week was any indication of the season, this team will end up in first by a good margin.

The past few years? Did you see this years opening lineup compared to last years?

How in the world can you compare this years lineup with 5 new players and 3 new all-stars, to any team in the past.

Also, the three all-stars we signed are considered to be some of the most clutch players in the game, not to mention Beltran, who is considered on of the most clutch in history.

How do ya'll feel about the offense now?

:cry::shakehead:help:

I'm in 3 leagues and he went in the first 6 rounds in each. I don't know where you're getting this estimated to go in the 16th round stuff, but Tanaka Round 9 is a steal for sure. Somehow, I got Carlos Gomez in Round 4 in one of my leagues, 12 teams

Perhaps if the Yankees and Mets combined, New York would actually have a decent sports team other than the Rangers...

Who would have thought the Rangers would own New York at the moment?
