One thing Dubas needs to do is be patient with a Marner trade. Don't rush it like the Kadri deal. Sakic took a while to move Duchene when everyone in Colorado wanted him ousted, Dubas needs to do that with Mitch. Wait for the right deal, don't just trade him for the sake of it.

If they can't get the right deal for him would you be in favor of him being left unprotected for the Seattle draft?

No, that would be stupid...if the Leafs trade Marner, there will be a deal to be done...after July 1st, the real dollar left on his contract only averages around $7.5 million per for the remaining 4 years.

I would be shocked if Dubas has the balls to trade Marner. He'll ship out Nylander first unfortunately before he touches Marner.

If we trade Willy before Mitch especially after this postseason and all the rumor that came out after I'm officially renouncing my fandom for the Leafs. I'll just go cheer for Seattle or someone. It will be an absolute travesty if Willy is the one thrust upon the sword in all this.

I don't know about that I think Leafs brass gave Marner everything including the rope to hang himself with, and Nylander showed he'll give it a run at least. Plus you just don't save that much with trading Willy lots of teams would want a point producer like Marner though

I wouldn't be surprised if Dubas dangles Willy to Columbus for Seth Jones.

Sean Avery got him on a golf app tee time for this afternoon.

Almost like he wanted to get beat out to golf with his friends.

I mean... It is a far fetch, but... you all saw what I saw.

Willy avoid ALL contact, what on earth are you talking about? Can't win with a player like that.

Anything involving Jones has to be with extension and I just don't know what that guy wants, but probably a bigger American market is my guess

Me too. I actually think this will happen.

I also have a feeling that with this playoffs and how Willie was entrust to lead his own line, this might springboard him to breakout and dare I say Mack 2.0.

Darren Ferris must be proud of getting his player booted out of Toronto.

Good job agent!

Another thing this organization should do, the head coach whether it's Keefe, Gallant, Boudreau, or even Torterella, needs to sit Mitch down and basically tell him he doesn't run the show anymore. No more dictating his role on the powerplay, no more demanding his linemates, no more quibbling about ice time. f*** him, he either surrenders himself to the will of this organization and the coaching staff or he gets the f*** out (though that may happen anyway).

I mean really, after three straight terrible playoff performances he really has no leg to stand on. Either get with the program or f*** right off.

With the flat cap in the foreseeable future, I don't see Jones getting anything close to the kind of money Pietrangelo received...$7.5 million per on a long term deal is my guess.

Avs and Leafs have a completely different situation

Matthews UFA in 3 years (no guarantee he re-signs);
Nylander UFA in 3 years (no guarantee he re-signs);
Tavares is aging dont expect him to be a top producer on the team in a couple years with still 11 AAV

cap not going up anytime soon. 50% of the cap allocated to 4 forwardsl cannot have quality depth- heck we couldn't even ice a 23 man roster.

Dubas has effed up. I'd rather new GM come in and take the reigns and make the deals. Dubas gotta be FIRED before Marner is traded

He's literally the only player that showed up tbis series. He's gotten better in nearly every facet of the game. He's gotten better in the playoffs over the years, he was not a good a playoff performer early in his career. And this is just a hunch on my part, but I have a suspicion Willy has the "It" factor, not unlike Kessel.
