Here's your reminder that players hated Tortorella more than Babcock when polled about him. 30% had Tortorella as most hated coach, 15% had Babcock.

So as bad as Babcock is, Tortorella is vastly worse.

The funny thing is I’m not sure Babcock would have ever been knocked down a peg if he took any other job but the Toronto job. Every other place the on ice results probably would have just been chalked up to standards & practice type of excuse that usually get made in this league for protected guys. Obviously him being a dickhead off the ice would have never shed a light without people being comfortable just treating him as just some guy opposed to an all encompassing authority on hockey like he was before that.

Cassidy is supposedly such a dick head that the Boston players rejoiced when he was fired.

Don't think it's as simple as dick head and player's coach, some disciplinarians are able to make it work, others like Gallant wear out their welcome quickly (never lasted 3 years at any stop). Some player coaches make it work, others lose their teams as players aren't held accountable.
