Hah. Better check Trots' track record.
His first year is basically installing schemes and evaluation, but even then, his teams don't go belly up.

It wasn't a good situation for Torts, a veteran team that didn't take kindly to his intensity.
It would have made sense if they were committing to a rebuild, but they thought they were still a contender.
They would get back to the playoffs the next year, lose in the 1st round, after that, 75, 69, 73, 81 points.

Torts is better with a young team with few entrenched veterans who'll resist his demands to play hard and at both ends of the ice.

Why the f*** should someone be excited about finishing just outside of the playoffs? At best.

What BS is this

Get some stars that are actually worth watching, and not a bunch of try hard losers. Pandering to fans in wheelchairs living in a time when whale oil was used.

So, he's better with the opposite of the Flyers.

Looking forward to watching many of the players wilt under the Torts. They will quit on him at some point as well. They do not want the country club apple cart being upset.

sorry if this was posted but did anyone see that rumor that the Flyers talked w Pens about Zucker + a first for nothing to the Flyers?

Carchidi just posted about it

Thats exactly the trade I’d want to make right now, if we couldn’t make it work thats a shame
any link?

Any Canadians here know what the deal is with NHL LIVE?

It's no longer with Rogers - you gotta sign up to some Sportsnet NOW package.

I just want hockey - I don't watch any other sport. In fact, I would just take the Flyers if I could. Is the standard package going to give me the same as NHL LIVE / Gamecenter in the past (e.g. all Flyers games, basically)? It's hard to tell from their pricing page.

Sounds like I need to pay DOUBLE what I was paying last year just to have the same level of content as NHL LIVE???? Seriously, this is criminal. Streaming is going back to the same predatory tactics that old cable did.

Wow. Well, apparently I was right - I would have to pay more than double.

“The NHL LIVE streaming service will no longer be available in Canada at the conclusion of this NHL season, but next season fans can use SN NOW to watch all the same out-of-market and national games,” Rogers Sports and Media spokesperson Jason Jackson confirmed in an email.

To get the full slate of out-of-market NHL games as they did with NHL Live, subscribers will have to pay for the Sportsnet Now Premium streaming service, which Rogers refers to as SN NOW Premium.

By the end of the season, JVR and Braun will be gone.

That will leave Couts (30), Hayes (30), Atkinson (33), DesLauriers (31) as your "senior citizens." And the corpse of Ellis.
Not exactly an "old" team.

Torts will have no problem getting buy-in from Couts, Atkinson and Deslauriers, so the only veterans who might put up resistance are Hayes and JVR. Hayes is coming off two injury striken seasons with a top draft pick at his position joining the team in a year, JVR is in a contract year. So neither has much leverage.

Risto and TDA have limited leverage, TDA is on a two year deal with his career at stake (another blow up and he's looking at short-term contracts the rest of his career), Attard is waiting in the wings to push Risto down in the lineup.

Why is Braun even here?

Fletcher will not let Attard replace his prized favorite slob, who he coveted for years and paid a fortune for. Fletcher can't take that massive L.

Wait, you just want to watch hockey ...but then would settle for just the Flyers?

These two statements are at odds with each other. I thought you wanted to watch hockey?

Not that I think Braun should have been brought back, what fortune did he pay to acquire him? That was one of his are solid moves.

As for Attard a little time in the AHL will be fine. Be curious to see what his timeline will be to get called up.

Back to the old, "the Flyers aren't old" stance while at the same time criticizing the Blues in the playoffs for having similar aged better players that are "past their prime" as why they didn't beat the Avs.

Why did we leave Laughton and Risto out this time? Some core they got there. It's up there with the tops in the league, IMO.

FLyers aren't old.

With JVR gone this summer, Couts (30), Hayes (30), Ellis (33), Atkinson (33), Laughton (28), Risto (28) are the oldest players on the roster.

Flyers have hit on a lot of draft picks since Hextall started, it's just taken a lot longer than expected, but that's more normal than we think.

Lindblom (5th), Hart (2nd), Allison (2nd), Laczynski (6th), Cates (5th), Attard (3rd), Brink (2nd), Zamula (UDFA) [Lycksell (5th), Fedotov (7th), Desnoyers (4th), Wisdom (5th)].

Along with 1st rd picks, Provorov, Sanheim, TK, Farabee, York, Frost [Foerster].

Binnington really didn't play that well, 4 shots off the post, a couple of which he whiffed on, a goal off a bad rebound, saved by Kyrou. Could have easily been 6 goals.

Don't think it's finesse v muscle, more like young, rested legs v old legs after a 6 game series.
It's not that the Blues are ancient, but it's a team with a lot of good but not great players who are probably past their peak seasons:
ROR (30), Schenn (30), Tarasenko (30), Perron (33), Bozak (35).
Colorado only has two forwards 30 or over, Kadri (31), Helm (35)

While I expect the Blues to play better, they're really not designed to win a track meet.

Not exactly a good or average team either.

IMO I do not think Hayes will be an issue at all. Also do not think they will clash at all.

TK, Ivan and the like are all vets now. We shall see about "Couts", he has accepted the country club atmosphere. I will be curious how he reacts if Torts goes off the reservation.

Do you really believe Attard will be pushing Risto down the lineup? When do you think that will happen?

Bringing back Braun was one of the few good moves Fletcher made this summer. He's the ideal partner for York.
