Still odd to me that Jack Hughes is on the same contract (and even makes a bit less than Robert Thomas, who I think the world of.....but still).

Anyway, Norris' contract seems a bit riskier, since he's so dependent on his finishing, but if you're confident he's your contending top 6 center, best to bet long term. Price still is a bit of a shock. With the Sens adding so much talent, another argument is someone is getting squeezed out on the PP. I watched Norris on that mediocre NTDP team, and frankly, I thought he was just a 3C. Even after his rookie Michigan season. I definitely missed his scoring potential, but I think the Senators also did a terrific job with his development.

He's good, but not that good. I think Pierre got a little drunk there. I didn't expect an 8 on either side of his deal though.

This could definitely be a situation where they should've gotten it done before the Thomas contract. I feel like the Hischier contract would've been a negotiable basis. A 20% shooting % and 43 goal pace, even if he shot 20% in the AHL and 17% in the NHL as a rookie, feels ripe for some regression. Norris is a bit linemate dependent on certain areas of the game, to which Jfresh alludes, but then again, the Sens have assembled dream linemates. It's hard for me to see him overperforming that, but I guess he could perform up to it?

Norris is one of those situations where a shooting heater added some money, but that's just how timing will work sometimes. I'm going to take a guess here that Ottawa didn't feel like they could be seen as cheap given the current arc of their franchise.

I'll mention the Rakell comp since he's on Dom's chart and represents the downside. 2/3rds of his 5v5 time in his two peak seasons was with both Getzlaf and Perry. Then Getzlaf turned 33 and fell off a cliff. Obviously that's not a concern with Tkachuk and Batherson being almost a decade younger.

The M.A.D. Cats' salary cap is blown to high hell right now, though. :laugh:

Yeah I could see him having a few years where he overperforms from a points perspective, but as you and JFresh allude to it wont be solely because of him. The downside would be Provorov-esque, where they realize a couple years in that he isn't as much of a 1C as they hoped when they signed. Should still be moveable. He is signed though his entire prime which I think is smart with their current situation. If they bridged and he has a couple good years next to Giroux, with the cap going up, not good.

What I am mad about now is how I will no longer be able to draft my sleeper Sens late in fantasy drafts this year.

Who is gunna be on that 2nd unit?

Giroux, tkachuk, norris, batherson, chabot, debrincat. Really hope giroux can get in that unit

@JojoTheWhale

I got obliterated.

Sometimes this is the best outcome. You got to have the thought of winning it, but you didn't have to cut the check.

And this wasn't one of those extend 15 minutes on every bid deals where you had to stay up until 4 AM. Some of the AHs used to extend the entire catalog if any lots got a bid. :laugh:

This one extended for thirty seconds after a bid was made in the last thirty seconds. Annoying but not too bad.

I felt pretty confident with the bankroll I had for a specific jersey but i'm glad that I got blown out of the water instead of losing by a few dollars.

D Strome basically took his QO to play in Washington.

Chicago are really going scorched earth and just throwing assets away.
