JVR's contract has one year left. The Flyers are absolutely not going to win the cup next year so burning future assets to free up the contract space one year ahead is such a braindead move. Nothing that Chuck will acquire with that cap space will put the team over the top. All it will do is prolong the mediocrity.

No, you don't understand, we need to make the team better now! We need to clear space and spend that money now! It's not like there are any UFAs coming due in 2023, 2024, 2025, etc. who would be worth hoarding cap space to take a moon shot at for a quicker rebuild or anything. No, we have to overpay for mediocrity RIGHT NOW! This is the way.

I liked all of the talk after the season that JVR had some kind of actual trade value. LOL. He had & has none. Just like even an expansion team didn’t want him for free.

He’s a horrific, albatross contract. No one wants him even in his last year. And the Flyers will have to pay dearly to rid themselves of it.

Negative value. And hurting the Flyers.
Or,, now wait for it , this bottom 5 team just keeps him and lets him walk or sell at deadline.
