For anyone wondering why Mikhail Vorobyov was included in this trade:

a) The Flyers received Hanifan with 50% retention from Calgary, and then
b) Traded Hanifan with 25% retention (50% of 50% remaining) to Vegas

The NHL appears to have a policy that teams can’t flip a player with salary retention while only surrendering “Future Considerations” in return. The third team retaining salary must give up some sort of asset in the three way trade.

Thus we see the RFA rights to Borobyov included in the deal by the Flyers. Vorobyov is age 27 and played in the NHL previously. Will become a UFA this summer on July 1st. His RFA rights are worthless.

You talking about Vorobyov, right?

That's an interesting rule. He's worthless to us though, so it makes sense to include him

William Lagesson looking like he’s hitting waivers.

Anyone on waivers should be of interest for a team looking to add from the bargain bin.

Already tired of the LTIR trade deadline/playoff discourse. I swear some would love to make player movement worse than it already is just because of few instances of it being done.

Not only that, but you have to have a very deep team where this is even viable as a positive. If the Flyers had to LTIR Konecny for most of a season, they'd sink like a f***ing rock. How'd they do without a single non-star player in Couturier?

The best run teams are uniquely positioned to take advantage of certain rules. Good! Be one of the best run teams.
