Not at all what I said. I don’t care who management is, I have no control over that. So whoever it is, I’m gonna hope they do well. That’s what fans do.

I saw the players fail. Management can only be blamed for so long, certain players don’t come to play when it matters.
signing 4 players to 40 mill is failing hard.

Pittsburg had also won 3 Cups with Crosby and Malkin...and these guys are now in their 30's...Malkin is freakin' 34 years old...and Crosby is 33.

Plus they already won a cup and made another finals appearance when they were currently Matthews and Marners age.

they have 3 elite kids who are like under 25? They have solid prospects in the pipeline. They have 3 solid defenders, I’d say great defenders and more than enough serviceable defenders in holl, dermott and Sandin. They got a at worst 40 game goalie (so a dual g) at under 2m. They can replace the backup g for pennies.

what more can you ask for? Maybe next playoffs Corey Perry won’t knee our captain and things might be different.

How about you tell us what you’d do different

So basically you're hanging your hat on Matthews and Marner eventually turning it around in the playoffs and figuring it out.

Heart and soul guy walks for nothing. Explain to me how things will be better next year again?

This year looks like “peak” Maple Leafs and it gets uglier from here....

Hyman is going to be just like Ponikarovsky, Stajan, Grabovski, Bozak etc etc.
Dime a dozen guys that played in our top 6 because we didn’t have anybody else and then completely failed when they left the Leafs.
I’d be pretty surprised if he’s in the NHL in three years.

Pittsburgh won the cup with 4 players taking up the same % of cap.

We don’t lose the first round if the players we rely on come to play. Every team relies on those players.

Colorado has a lot of depth but when the MacKinnon line went ghost, Vegas ran them over.

Stars win series. It’s on them.

30 management teams fail every year. A lot of players actually come to play in the playoffs. I take issue with the ones who are on the ice.

Hyman comes from money. Rich kid from Thornhill. Apparently his family got tboned and he sued or some stupid commercial I hear on the radio. If he wants to stay he can take a cut. He doesn’t like it then he can enjoy .. Columbus? Iunno where he goes.

That's not even close to how they got money.

His dad was a Toronto real estate developer who's owned a ton of hockey teams in the GTA at certain points.

Here's an article on Hymans dad and Hyman's road to the NHL.

How a dad with NHL dreams bankrolled a hockey empire

I know this is asking for too much, but how about one series win in nearly two decades? We're literally the least or among the least accomplished teams in decades and you're asking what more can you ask for???? Like literally anything!

cool. Are Matthews, Marner and Nylander in their 30s? Msg me in 10 years when they’re that old.

They took big money, but can't even get out of the first round the last 2 years against Columbus and the Habs (if you want to count last year against the CBJ as first round)...this year is extra pathetic.

I have a feeling this post won't age well.

Tampa broke the points record and then got swept by Columbus. Super pathetic. Then their fans cried and they tore it down and they didn’t win the cup the next year.

Hyman is worth around 4-4.5MM in my opinion. If he signs above that number, I'll be happy for bot him and the team. If he signs within that range, then the team dropped the ball.
He's not even worth that. He's at most a 3 million player and he isn't worth signing long term because he's starting to pick up injuries these past few years. He hasn't completed a full season the past 3 years, thats including 2 shortened seasons and he is already 29 years old. The guy barely puts up any points in the playoffs either, 5 points in 19 games(Kerfoot had more this year) the last 3 playoff series is pathetic for a guy who's meant to be stylistically perfect for the playoffs. It just goes to show, he gets far too many "easy points" that inflates his numbers. He's a good piece to have on the 3rd line that can move up to the 2nd line, but nothing more than that.

So managment should be excused from the conversation? I agree 100% its on the players but, at what point do you trade one of these guys if they're not getting it done.

do you make minimum wage? When your work offers you a raise do you go “no! I need to make less for the company”. Like get real and don’t worry about what other people make.

sports fans who go to 1 game a year and spend like 200 have a lot of nerve telling professional athletes who pay 50% in taxes, 10% in agent fees and 16% in escrow, how much they should make.

Colorado made the playoffs as the 17th best team in 18-19. But sure ..

Which part of "usually don't" don't you understand...so you gave an example of Colorado just sneaking in...what's the sample like in the last 10 to 15 years? The Habs wouldn't even sniff a wild card spot in a normal divisional alignment.

I said below 5 because the poster mentioned it. Unlikely he gets 5. It forms the basis of negotiation. He hits a lot and draws a lot of penalties...can play the pk and is generally a solid defensive forward who can score. A hyman type of player with a bit more nasty.

To think that the overspending stops with one of the few guys who gives a f***. Par for the course with this management. So many assets just wasted.
