Geez.Hyman is going to be just like Ponikarovsky, Stajan, Grabovski, Bozak etc etc.
Dime a dozen guys that played in our top 6 because we didn’t have anybody else and then completely failed when they left the Leafs.
I’d be pretty surprised if he’s in the NHL in three years.
Which part of "usually don't" don't you understand...so you gave an example of Colorado just sneaking in...what's the sample like in the last 10 to 15 years? The Habs wouldn't even sniff a wild card spot in a normal divisional alignment.
Three of those guys are graduating. Obviously I was talking coming up. For a guy with so little game you sure squawk a lot. Maybe my first ignore.sandin, liljegren, Roberson, Amirov, among others.. oh ya drying up
Tampa broke the points record and then got swept by Columbus. Super pathetic. Then their fans cried and they tore it down and they didn’t win the cup the next year.
And they're also much better players, especially in the playoffs.Sorry they get 35m and they also have incredible tax relief. My bad. And they’re also 18m over the cap
Did you miss how Tampa did in the playoffs the years before being swept by Columbus? I could look at Tampa's body of work and say the sweep by Columbus was an anomaly...I can't say the same for the Leafs.
Geez.

Watch where our prospect pool is ranked next season. Bottom third.
He was hurt last year and not up to form this, plus his linemates were dogshit. He was a great player for us, that’s kind of why he’s going to get paid. “You guys” need to pay attention, nobody is saying he’s the most important player, but he’s a great piece for a winning side.I think that poster might be right. You guys go crazy about Hyman because we have no one else of his type. He gets really exposed in the playoffs playing with top 6 guys. He hasn’t produced. He is a great 3rd liner on a cup contender, not a top 6 forward.
so let me recap. If the leafs won a few rounds, the next year finished with the best record ever, then got swept by the Blue Jackets and then win the cup the following season … this fan base would be ok with that?
LAUGH OUT LOUD
ya tell that to soon to be back to back champs Tampa.

Especially with no draft picks. I can’t help you guys, the future is THIN.And where would our U25 players rank? I also bet our prospect pool is mid-tier, we have a lot of good prospects still.
We still have these guys (sure I am missing some).. Kral, Abramov, Rindell, Hallander, Miettenen, Holmberg, Hirvonen, Kokkenen, Amirov, Koster, Anderson, SDA, Niemela.
You take away the top 3 prospects in anyone's prospect pool and it doesn't look great.
I wonder how things would be looking if we had done this over the last 5 yrs or so? Im not saying I agree with doing that but if we had traded instead of letting walk. Why wouldn't we take a shot at this year? We were in a good position to make the semi-finals but came up short. It is really easy to make the right decisions in hindsight.
Hockey is such an unpredictable game, we had a good chance of going far this year, but you want the team to get rid of a top-6 winger because there is a better chance they don't? They may as well just trade all pending UFAs at the start of every year since they are unlikely to win the cup.
9.5 + 8.5 + 7.875 + 9.5 = 35.375.
The difference is where. Tampa pays a Hart Trophy winner Kucherov, Rocket winning Stamkos, Norris winning Hedman, and Vezina winning Vasilevsky.fair enough to many beers lmao
Fixed it for you.

But that cup wouldn’t of came cause crybabies like you would of demanded heads after the Columbus choke and the team would be different.
thankfully no one in Tampa cares about hockey so they were able to keep their team intact and win the cup.
I mean it happens often since the conferences are not balanced and one team could get screwed in a harder conf?
also perspective. Habs were 1 pt less than the 16th place team. When the Avs were 17th, they had 3 less pts than the team that missed the playoffs. Context matters.

...a little different than the situation in Toronto with 4 forwards.
So you're justifying losing to the almost 16th place team in the first round.
