Why the hell Guerin is fine with Yurov staying in Russia rather than coming over and playing in the NHL on an ELC contract is beyond me. It’s like he is in no hurry to win. Surely he doesn’t expect better numbers from players like Foligno, Hartman, Zucc, Gaudreau, MoJo, as They age well into their 30‘s?

BG’s a tough one to figure out. He’s insistent we’re in win now mode, but maybe he doesn’t want to poke the bear.

That is Yurov's choice to stay in the KHL not GMBG's. It is something that is completely out of his control. So GMBG does the smart thing and says it's fine in public and throws the hissy fit (if there is one) behind closed doors.

Just from the limited reports we've seen, Yurov has his own plan that he wants to follow. He seems to have reasons for wanting to play in the KHL next season again. It's not much different than a college kid deciding to go back to college for another year instead of signing his ELC.

From the little I've seen of Rossi, he plays "small". Doesn't seem imposing, gritty, physical - doesnt seem to have an edge to him or a chip on shoulder.

Kind of like Granny. He is young tho so he should grow more into his game I'm sure. I do wish he was a little bigger though, but he seems to be doing fine this season

2 points out of a wildcard spot with 3 games against the Blues in the next month.

Feels like Guerin is going to use that $$ from Spurgeon’s injury to grab an expiring. Could use a middle 6 scoring forward or another defender - any intriguing options out there?
On the teams that are currently out of playoff position to the point they would be willing to sell, Eberle and Duclair are the only two forwards that make my tip tingle

It's decisions like this that make me question whether Hynes and Guerin are competent enough to win anything worth winning. They have no clue how to use Rossi at all because he's not a gritty grinder, yet they're force feeding Zuccarello and Johansson top six minutes despite their play literally begging for less ice time.

Duclair would be interesting. Some speed and a shoot-first mentality would be nice for Rossi

He’s on a 50+ point pace while not getting PP1 time and not getting great 5v5 linemates. And he’s solid defensively.

I am thrilled with his development. We haven’t had a pair of youngish Cs like this in our entire history

I like him better than MiG. Better defensively, better shot, and plays a decent C. Losing a year of training due to Myocarditis took time to overcome… while he was sitting on the sidelines struggling with basic activities like breathing the rest of his peers were playing, hitting the gyms, etc.. It takes a while to catch up, but his determination to do so speaks well of him. He is much better than he was last year in the AHL, even though he was a vg AHL’er.

Let's also not forget he's still only 22 at that. Ek scored 14 points in 58 games when he was 22. Granlund had 39 points in 68 games with top six and PP1 ice time. I like Rossi's game, I think he'd score a lot more with better wingers consistently. I think management and coaching are too obsessed with a certain player archetype, and not everyone has to fit that mold, but they want Rossi to.

I think Rossi has the puck game and the brain to be a high-end point producer but still think he needs to gain an extra step to get there and get a bit stronger. Very good chance he does that. He did both this summer. But if he doesn’t, that will probably stop him from hitting his ceiling.

I can't stand the handling of Rossi. Rossi has already exceeded all expections for his Rookie season and might be the best even strength scorer on the team while he is solid on his own end too. And even when he was playing with scrubs, he provided some secondary scoring. But whats the reward? He gets buried onto the fourth line with limited TOI.

I can't see a plan behind it. They're just screwing with him.

Normally you do everything you can do as a coach to give your Rookie center some stability so that he can build a connection with other good players. You don't shuffle im around playing 4th line minutes with AHLers. I'm just pissed, don't they watch the games? Foligno, Johannson, Duhaime, Dewar, Gaudreau are getting more TOI than Rossi. Give me a f***ing break.

It is less about Rossi, more about the rest of the team. The Wild right now are desperate to get secondary scoring, they are looking for ways to jump start Hartmann, Zucc 5on5 without Kap and Johansson. The "problem" with Rossi is he works everywhere decently well as a forechecker, puck distributor, defensively responsible center and just a guy that makes linemates better usually. He got his shot on the first, second and even third line this year and while it worked ok for most of the time there was no "wow" moment where his game just popped. His offense has slowed down quite a bit before the last 3 games let's not forget that.

Right now the team needs secondary scoring which hasn't been there for a while. The way the wild roster is cap handicapped you really can't go down the road of punishing underperforming players. You need to find ways to get them going and that's what the coaches are trying to do right now.

Couldn't disagree more. Rossi plays anything but a small game, he routinely goes into the tough areas in front of the net and into the corners. Many of his goals this year have been scored around the net on tips, deflections and rebounds. It is actually amazing how often he wins his board battles against seemingly tougher defensemen and retrieves pucks for the team. It has been the most consistent part of his game this year. That is one of his strengths. He always plucks the holes and supports the puck carrier just like a good center should. Many small positive things in his game that do not show up on the score sheet but push the play into the right direction.

So the NHL.com says that Wild could be looking to trade Flower if they fall out of the race.
I'm just wondering what team could possibly want him, and why?
They also say that Eberle and Wennberg (Kraken) might be available. Is that worth a shot for Billy G?

I don’t see Fleury getting much of a return, though it depends on whether we retain. Late 2nd at most if we max retain.

looking at the energy faber & rossi are bringing to the team this year im disappointed yurov combined with wallstedt won't both be here bringing another shot in the arm of youthful energy next season. UGH charlie brown.

Wallstedt will be here. And possibly Khusnutdinov, Ohgren, and/or Peart.

Random thought but wouldn’t Rakell be a decent trade target if PIT blows things up? He’s prob a 50 point player in a vacuum. But we could use another scoring piece and you like that he is a RHS. Contract is $5M for another few years.

Guaranteeing NHL ice time would’ve been a pretty persuasive move.

AHL’s max salary of $80K isn’t enticing when he can make 4x that staying in Russia

Why would you guarantee ice time to someone that's never played NA hockey? That's pretty foolish.

He comes over. Doesn't adjust to the play quickly but we have to keep him with the big club because he was guaranteed ice. You don't see a problem with that? At all?
