If Fleury wanted to stick around one more year would you trade Gus to someone like Edmonton for a 2024 1st and 3rd?

That would leave us with Flower and Wallstedt and I wouldn’t mind Wally spending a year with flower. Next year is largely a throw away year as well.

I missed the main thread re: Hartman and Perfetti. Without getting into Hartman/Dillon/Ehlers/Kap, do you guys think that what is said on the ice should be publicized by players? I agree with what Hartman said in Russo's article - half the NHL would be suspended if all of us hear everything that was said. To me, it's a competition and competitive people want to win. Leave what is said on the ice on the ice...

Leave it on the ice. Unless ethnic slurs or attacking family members with disorders. That stuff has no place anywhere in life.

That being said, I don't think giving someone a high stick to the face is what toughness means. Hartman just makes a fool of himself and the team, pulling shit like that.

I agree with this 100%.

I don't condone what Hartman did at all. I don't think he is anywhere near Matt Cooke or Ruutu or May (those are guys I absolutely hated), but I can understand why other teams' fans dislike him. I hope that what Perfetti did doesn't become commonplace.

Let’s see if he can stay healthy. I feel like players keep rushing back from injury too quickly this season, only to re-aggravate the issue.

Well when you have a playoff mandate from the owner , you’ve built an incredibly flawed roster …..and that flawed roster happens to be old and fragile. Id guess this is the only possible result.

Do we know that Faber was the key returning piece and that it was Guerin who wanted him, or did LA have some say in it?

Was Gustavsson key in trading Talbot, or did Ottawa just not want Gustavsson and Guerin was trying to dump Talbot?

We may never actually know those answers. We do know for a fact that Guerin wanted to get rid of Fiala. That's why he gets more blame than credit.
These mental gymnastics to avoid giving Guerín any credit are pathetic

True. I think Zucc is pushing it, feeling the pressure to help the team. And he's starting on the top line, that's a lot of minutes. Fingers crossed...

I think a 50 year old player who just got his retirement contract don't feel the need to rush back.
He's not playing if he's not ready.

That's not Zucc, and I don't think the docs will stop him if he wants to play. He finished that game in Vancouver after getting hurt, and scored the SO winner.

But there's a fracture in his arm, back after 18 days is too early imo. If it gets worse again it will just continue to bother him.

It's not like he shoots the puck anyway, so.....;)

Different player types, Skjei better skating and IQ, worse physically. Mostly a wash though Skjei is probably a bit more capable on his own comparatively.
I think Skjei is significantly better. He’s an elite skater. Middleton has stapled to Faber, Spurgeon and Erik Karlsson so he’s been living like a king
