Merrill benched for a while now, is there any chance Billy G can pull off another trade for a 6th round pick or something?
What team could possibly need him?
I see none, don´t know if he can be sent down or waived.
I'm with you. Mermis looks acceptable as a 6/7D, and don't forget that we still have Goligoski. My hope is that they trade Merrill because Hunt looks the part, and swap Merrill and ROR if the latter's play warrants it later on in the season. They do run a small risk of losing Merrill on waivers, which would kind of mess with Iowa/Mermis, but you can't worry too much about that.

You don't want the young guys riding the bench, though. If they come up, they should be playing.

Probably too early in the season to have many or any bidders, makes more than the minimum and has term, cap constraints league wide make it unlikely he goes for just a pick this at this point. Maybe if he demonstrates playability you get something at the deadline.

Seems like Spurgeon has been activated today and Hunt sent down.
Does that mean we get Merrill back in the lineup, or is Spurge ready to play tonight?

I think we are playing below our potential. Smells like a coaching problem, though i am unconvinced about the makeup of the team, especially going forward.

It's so f***ed, Dean was literally right on the path that everybody thought he should be going. Then he reverts back to the stale Kaprizov-Succ combo and no line looks capable.

I'd also go back to the line that has a combined 40 points in 14 games...

They have not combined for 40pts. That total includes the PP totals, which you cannot attribute to that line.

Hell, you're even including even strength points they've each obtained while split up.

That line is a stale mess when actually together.
So, you're saying it's not ok to say that the Kucherov - Pettersson - Panarin line has already put up 69 points in 13.33 games this year?

I think the Zuccarello - Hartman - Kaprizov line has had moments where they've looked good but, unexpectedly, it's been mostly Hartman doing the good looking things. I also greatly preferred Johanson with Zuccarello - Hartman instead of Boldy - Rossi. It was a small sample, but I think that that's where he's looked best this year. I don't understand why Evason went back to the lines that weren't working. And then behold, the Wild start losing again, what a shocker.

Agreed, they're big, strong, and possess the puck well, even if it doesn't always turn into offense. I guess it shows the GREEF line would still have worked if Greenway were healthy and playing well.

MEEF. FEEM. JEEFM.
I may need to look outside this box.

I wanted “On Fleek” to work somehow. And it does with a rather odd stretch of logic… but alas

Russo says Gaudreau and Goligoski will travel to Sweden. Great reinforcement, who on earth will they replace in the lineup?

Wallstedt called up for the trip, they can bring 3 goalies. Says insurance, but perhaps he'll get his NHL debut in his native country.

I have my over under for Wallstedt games this season at 4. I doubt we get one on this trip but sure would be cool!

Oh, and Vinni and Mermis are the answers to your question.

It's behind a payroll, so I'm just gonna post an excerpt. This is Evason plan after the last game.

The Wild are 'angry' after latest maddening loss

They just don’t have the kind of team that can outscore their mistakes. And, so far, there have been too many. How do they get out of this?

“Belief,” Evason said. “We have to continue to believe that if we do things over and over again as we talked about before, that it’ll flip.”

Belief? Believe? Well, it IS the holiday season when people hope for miracles. But lack of changes here or there and refusing to coach out of his comfort zone is why this tail spin will continue.
