What's the rush to move him if all you're expecting is a 3rd or 4th? Those picks are almost meaningless and all it means is Lucchini and Lettieri are on the fourth line full time moving forward. We don't have anyone else pushing to take his spot right now, and even if Yurov, Khusnutdinov and Ohgren all make the team next year, trade him or someone else then when you actually need to.
Sounds like an excellent way to push the tank forward,

But in all seriousness, @Digitalbooya Dewar is different from Duhaime in that he's an RFA. The team has a lot of contract control, so he should remain inexpensive, and he provides solid depth. He's not a world beater, but they won't pay him to be either (I hope). If a prospect pushes him out, fine, trade him that year, Until he's not an RFA. not cheap, or not being pushed out of the lineup, he's more worth holding onto than trading away. At least, IMO.

I assume he doesn't mean "by playing poorly" but instead means "by making the guy GM".

Hockey lodge is already selling Khusnutdinov jerseys, I almost impulse bought one just because it's young fresh blood and I feel like we don't get enough of that

There’s just not really any upside to trading him. Can’t remember what the odds are, but isn’t it like a 13-15% chance that a player drafted in the 3rd round plays more than 100 games?
The problem I have is Guerin appears to be set on moving on from Dewar. Dewar’s value will be at its highest right now. Not at the draft. Not during the summer when he’s unsigned and teams can just go get a FA. Right now, at the trade deadline, where teams overpay for their playoff push.

Wonder how long Middleton is out for? With him and Foligno out, and Duhaime traded, we're 10 ply.

Forgot that the 2020 draft was moved to October. So, Rossi falls in the slam dunk pick. Heidt is the other. He's had four guys that have dropped that would be a slam dunk pick for any team: Rossi in 2020, Wallstedt in 2021, Yurov in 2022 and Heidt in 2023.

The issue isn't that players picked in the later round end up becoming NHLers, a lot of them make up the bulk of the AHL and become 'tweeners. Not good enough in the NHL, but pretty damn good in the AHL.

He's had 4 drafts and so far his 2020 draft looks - meh. Khusnutdinov may end up being okay, Novak had injuries to say the least but I expected a LOT more out of O'Rourke and a bit more out of Hunt.

His drafts with the Canucks aren't that great either. Again a lot of hype and not a lot of substance.
So on the bad picks he's an idiot and on the good picks, it was a slam dunk who anybody would have taken? Seems fair 🙄

So If Guerin didnt sign Zuccarello this season what do you think the Wild could have got for him today? Hes a point per game guy. 1st round pick and a prospect?

Because of age, lack of size and 5 v 5 contributions, a late 1st. Having a guy who can help on the PP is always a big deal in the playoffs.

I wonder if Fleury is having a re-think about accepting a trade? He is playing well, and it's becoming clear that this team is not going to make the playoffs. If he does retire after this year, it sure would be nice for him to go out a champion. All he has to do is spend 3 months away from the fam, and even then he can have a few visits in between starts.

Could we trade Flower AND Gus ???? Please??

I'll be happy with MAF, Maroon, and Merrill - the 3M's. Moving Gaudreau would be a bonus.

I am hoping that Gus pulls it together next year, and is a good partner for his countryman, Wallstedt. Gus is still pretty young in goalie terms, and the defense has been kind of jank, this year.

Fleury is talking about re-signing for next year, zero chance he moves today.

Which would be crazy, unless Gus is moved, which would also be crazy, as he would be worth a fraction of what he was last year.

Unless BG plans to keep Wall down in the AHL again, which would make me shake my head from both a playing, and $$ standpoint.

We will be seeing some more Wallstedt to close the season out I assume, and those games will likely carry significant weight. If he needs more time, that’s a very normal thing for goalies his age, it would be very outside the norm for him to actually be NHL capable at this point.

Gearing up for that 2026 draft big time, anyone think we can move Stramel for a 2026 1st?

Maybe, but would that be worth not having him next year for a little over $4M? I'd probably rather keep him
