Precisely what Russo/LaPanta saidAddison is probably due for a scratch. He's not good except on the PP, and the PP has gone dark.
Rossi (unless he's injured) needs to be playing, not sitting in the pressbox. They should have sent him down for the 3 games in 3 days Iowa had last weekend.
Precisely what Russo/LaPanta said
Wasn’t referring to the playersWho's left?
It's that damn Brodin, I tell ya.
Ducks fan checking in out of morbid interest...how has Steel been?
Well he's already our top line center between Kaprizov and Zuccarello...not bad.Ducks fan checking in out of morbid interest...how has Steel been?
Embarrassing actually.Well he's already our top line center between Kaprizov and Zuccarello...not bad.
Zuccarello with just the one point he didn't do much to earn.
Boldy and Kaprizov with two nice plays on the PP tonight. I wonder what they'd look like together full time. Worth a shot if Zuccarello is gonna continue being a no show.
I disagree until Greenway/Boldy gets a decent chance to fail/succeed.
The Kaprizov/Zuccarello tandem failing is more of a factor for me than the chance that Boldy/Greenway succeeds
Not for me. Zucc can't carry a line and is only a positive compliment to Kap or Boldy on the team. Kap and Boldy won't be on a line together for the same reason Kap and Fiala weren't on a line together. It's too easy to beat 1 scoring line teams.
Or in other words Boldy and Kap are better being stuck on an island than Zucc would be.
You need your best scorer scoring at even strength. He is not doing that right now with Zuccarello. It's time to change something. Point blank. I don't really care if Zuccarello can't drive his own line. That's no different than the rest of the guys down the lineup. He does not continue to get special treatment.
Then Zucc will be put with Boldy. It won't be Boldy put with Kap. This coaching staff won't do it (I agree with this). It just makes the team as a whole easier to matchup against and beat.
This is a team that can't really even stack 1 line due to it's lack of centers. It has to be a team where every line needs to contribute with the wings carrying the centers.
I also don't see a Boldy/Kap line being much better than Kap/Zucc is now when there is still a 4th liner playing 1C.
Kaprizov - Gaudreau - Reaves
Boldy - Steel - Shaw
Duhaime - Dewar - Zuccarello

Let's ride!

Is 3/4 lines that would be effective in their roles. The only downside is that Zuccarello won't be handed free points anymore.
Boldy had one point in 8 games prior to tonight, so I don't really think the idea that we're better off with Boldy playing on an island hits as hard as some people wish it did.
So Boldy gets handed the free Kap points instead of Zucc? What's the difference? It's not like the Kap line is going to go from 1g/game (which it was the last 5 games) to 2g/game a night 5v5 by swapping Boldy for Zucc. Freddy G (2g), Dumba (1g), Steel (1g), Zucc (1g) were potting the goals while Kap wasn't. Some of that is on Kap just not making his shots, but the line has been working.
The Duhaime/JEE/Foligno line has been working the last few games.
The Kap/Zucc line has been getting their goal per game. The hole in the line is a center spot.
The Dewar/Shaw tandem has been working. The hole in that line was the 3rd FWD.
The Boldy line potted a goal tonight, and played decently for the first time in awhile. Let them try and build on that.
This team had a functional looking FWD group, as a whole, for the 1st time all season.
I want a Greenway/JEE/Boldy 2nd line.
Do you guys think he's just wrong, or do you think he's actively lying to try to keep the mob off Guerin? I don't know which one would be worse. On one hand, lying is pretty bad but he's probably doing it to protect his in with Guerin. On the other hand it's so easy to look this up yourself to see it's false.

I agree that it was mathematically possible, but there was always a tradeoff with it. See Digitalbooya's post. I think he does an excellent job explaining why the Wild were screwed either way. It's cover for GMBG. Russo also didn't like Fiala, based on how he covered him. Fiala got the Fenton and Nino/Rask trade treatment from Russo. Fiala makes a turnover and pop off a tweet about it, but Kap does the same thing and nothing is said. Or how Russo got angry about people saying Rossi (based on his play) should be sent down this year.
The cap could have been done differently. Just by signing Fiala a year earlier long term ($6.5m was Russo numbers), and not re-signing Goli (keep Kulkov for the season and let him walk next year). Not buyout Suter. There are plenty of alternatives where the cap could have worked.
