Guerin is going to stay the course; won't trade anyone, won't make a huge move. He believes this team will make the playoffs (they'll probably just barely miss it) and instead of getting a top 5 pick, they'll pick 14th, get another Kunin clone and call it a success.

I agreed with you on Zucc right now. But I don't think Deano playing him 21-22 minutes per game, help him or the team in any way.
I believe that's Zucc's decision. If he wants less minutes he just has to tell the coach.

That being said, Kap & Zucc are now on a five game point streak.

Unfortunately, I think you're mostly right. I do think that Guerin will be put under some pressure to be competitive this year(by Leipold), and will make a move of some sort, but I think it will be more of a garbage out, garbage in, trade.

He needs to get this team competitive by Thanksgiving. Right now they are going backwards. Many of our games so far have been against weak teams. If teams like the Preds and Blues start to pick it up, and WPG plays even close to the way they are now, then our chances of playoffs this year are slim.

LAK should be better this year, EDM will be a playoff team, CAL should be a playoff team, CO, VGK, leaving us to battle STL/NSH/WPG/SEA? for the remaining 3 playoff spots.

A fair amount of those minutes are on the PP, which are usually less stress on the bod.

Zucc doesn't run the team and he should have zero input in how many minutes he plays. If the coach needs him to be out there for 25, he better be out there.

Don’t put this energy into the world

-I’d rather see Goligoski playing than Middleton.

I don’t know what you guys who like Middleton see in him, but he’s a mediocre #6. Ian Cole and Carson Soucy obliterate this guy as defenders and they formed our third pair just a mere two seasons ago.

The d-core has really fallen off from what it was and the offense only picked up the slack last year because they had a top 9 that was a matchup nightmare for other teams.

He was good last year. Idk, I don’t notice him most of the time which is usually a good thing for a player like him. I will say that he doesn’t get the puck going the other way to well

I'd rather see Benn back in the lineup before Goli.

If a player approached me (I have coached for 8 years) and told me has wants less time, I would be disgusted. It doesn't matter if they're an NHLer or a HS player, you should want to never leave the ice.

Also, does Dean seem like the type who would appreciate a player telling him that, and do you think he would actually listen?

Depends on how the player approached me, to be honest.
"Hey coach. I'm getting a bit older and feel run down getting so many minutes. If we could scale back just a little bit, I think I would be more effective", would sit fairly well with me.

Watching this team makes me sad...I was holding on to at least a glimmer of hope after having to watch Nebraska's dumpster fire of a season.

It has been a tough few months(years).

It’s looking pretty bleak for the next 4 or 5 years. Not going to be much competitive hockey.

Middleton is significantly stronger, and tougher than Goligoski. This D is already low on size and strength...replacing Middleton with Goligoski would make us even worse in board and net front battles.

I was always a Soucy fan- Cole, not so much.

Now you're going too far!

I count seven top 9 + top 4 players that would be in their correct spots on a good, contending team. 7 out of 13 is not good.
