MN has won the games they should and lost the games they should, as far as on paper teams. The DET loss is the only one that doesn't really fit with this. LA was the only tossup game on the schedule for me so far.

6-3-1 was my guess for the start of the season record. A 6-2-3 record is the rest of NOV's games on paper for me. I use OTL as a tossup game.
I'd say Ottawa was the tossup game. They have improved dramatically from last year. Detroit is also an up and coming team, I wasn't surprised that they lost to them. Husso has Minnesota's number.

I don't see either OTT or DET being even a fringe Playoff team this year. I think they are still a bit away.

For the most part I see non-Playoff teams as wins, Playoff teams as losses, and fringe Playoff teams as OTLs. Though NOV the schedule is pretty black and white, without any grey areas (good matchups, bad matchups, etc.) teams that move the bar.

That would make perfect sense to me if he was only signed for one year, or 1M.
Why does having that locked in for two years not make sense? You have said yourself that we don't have many pipeline D that are ready at this very moment. He's a guy capable of playing top 4 fill in minutes or comfortably riding the pine when we are healthy and on a roll, he is a cup winning mentor, and while he is physically not the most gifted in his age, he still has a lot of knowledge on puck moving that he can share with the team over the next few years. $2MM is nothing for a stable player that brings those attributes, you will not find a better match for cheaper in Free Agency. Team's need injury insurance, and there are only so many league minimum players that aren't total blackholes to go around.

I see them as up and coming, which means they are going to have some really bad games, but also some really good games.

That's every team though. It's why I'm looking at it as a 10 game/monthly record increments. MN might steal the game against CAR, but get Hellebuycked against the Jets. In the end it should about even out for the good/bad games. It's just my personal barometer for if I think the team is meeting, exceeding, for failing my expectations for a given timeframe.

Currently they aren't quite meeting my expatiations. :dunno:

Goli is also 37 and will be 38 the last year of his deal. He fell off a cliff after half a season last year at age 36. He's someone you sign for cheap 1 year (35+) deals with performance bonuses (like Parise with NYI). With as much dead cap as there is every potential dollar matters. The full NMC and 2nd year are both just too much, imo.

He won a Cup, yes, but as a rookie where he played a total of 2 games with less than 21min total ToI. He's never played in a game past the 2nd round. The only d-man on the roster that has played in Conference Finals and Cup games in Merrill.

Even without Goli MN has a d-corps that has a lot of NHL games and term on their contracts. Goli's contract will end before the younger guys are getting to the team. Addison this year, and one more (maybe) next year.

*Binnington has Minnesota's number.

In fairness to you, Husso was very good in that game, and while I don't think Detroit's a really great team yet, when things click for them they are quite dangerous.

No replacement for Duhaime tomorrow, they will go with 11F and 7D + Fleury. I guess it's because they have four days off after this game.

Evason said there a chance Greenway can play next week. A couple of the injured guys are long term and will not go on the trip.

we lost to a detroit team who lost next game to buffalo 8-3 , NO EXCUSE for that.
Florida lost to Arizona which management built to try and lose 82 games. Boston is first in the league and lost to the Sens, who the Wild beat.

Sounds like Beckman and Cramarossa have been called up. Beckman has 9 points in 8 games, Cramarossa can also take care of the fighting.

Greenway sounds ready against Kings, and Foligno is dtd will probably go on trip. Hartman and Duhaime could be out long term, both most likely dealt with a dislocated shoulder.

Had a great time yesterday at St. Louis Park :thumbu:

I believe Becks has six points in eight games. Does anyone know if/where they're likely to play him?

You are right on the points totals. Your guess is as good as mine. I am guessing that he doesn't play much.

Cramarossa is not a guy who is going to fight, or at least, not fight and win.

Do we think it's automatic that GREEF is put together right away if Greenway is ready to go?

Before last game I didn't think it was automatic, but after none of the offense did anything, and Dean ran Kaprizov-Boldy-Zuccarello for the second half of the game, I wouldn't be at all surprised. Is Foligno gonna be ready though?

Can't believe we're already getting this thin on actual NHL talent.

Greenway-Eriksson Ek-Foligno
Kaprizov-Gaudreau-Zuccarello
Shaw-Rossi-Boldy?
Beckman-Dewar-Steel?
Cramarossa?

We can't keep getting away with putting guys like Boldy and Fiala with players like Shaw, Dewar, Duhaime, Jost, Steel and Rossi (as long as he's not being productive). Especially when our offense is already bad enough when everyone's healthy.

I'd try swapping Boldy and Foligno and seeing what happens.

Shit. I forgot he was hurt too.

Greenway - JEE - Boldy is the practice line, I really like that lines potential, hope it works out nicely.

Dewar - Rossi - Shaw is an interesting combo, sure is small but plenty of effort in that group.

Such a tiny line, but Shaw and Dewar are gritty, and not afraid, at least. They also know each others game pretty well. Not ideal, but the situation with all the injuries is pretty grim- Greenway has been injured for so long that you can't really expect him to be any good for a few games.

Worlds smallest sample size, but Greenway’s first two shifts looked pretty great. Thankfully he’s been able to skate the whole time for conditioning, but may take a bit for his hands to catch up, especially the shot.

Looks like Dean's been taking my advice on lines lately
