Evason did earn that nickname due to the playoffs. That said, it's unfair to say that you think this lineup change is Guerin's decision, yet blame Evason when no changes are made. How does anyone know it's not the other way around? Speculating on who might be responsible for changes, or lack thereof, is just a great way to push and confirm your own biases.
I don't know who caused it, but I'll enjoy them putting Rossi in a spot where we can find out if he's actually ready or not. I'm also glad to see Greenway back. For all his flaws, he can be a beast and is a real asset on that line.

No, cause the people who complain don’t even know what they are complaining about. When you try to ask them what changes they wanted they avoid any sort of honest discussion about it and gaslight you into thinking you don’t want a conversation.
I almost got a decent discussion. Someone mentioned the power play, to which I said Spurgeon was definitely a problem. Then I pointed out that there was no one better available for the spot and the conversation died. Kinda weird how quiet people become when they realize the change they want doesn’t have a better option available in the lineup.

I'd be happy to have an actual conversation about the changes (and I'm positive I've talked about them before) when you settle down, stop trying to bait people into straw mans, stop pretending Evason and Guerin are above criticism, and stop saying stupid shit like "oh you think you're smarter than them so what would you do".

I agree with you, and I'm not concerned about whether it was Guerin or Evason who made this decision, I'm just happy we get to see him play in that spot, to see if he can handle it, or needs to get sent down temporarily.
Regardless of who pushed or made this decision, it is a decision that I agree with, and will give credit where it's due.

Doesn’t make the team better. Maybe not worse though. Doesn’t change the fact that Eriksson Ek gotten taken to school in the faceoff dot every power play. If anything, an injured Zucc would give an excuse for Fiala’s second straight terrible playoffs.
If Evason really wanted to win, he should have benched Fiala. Basically no offensive production. 16 PIMs. -5 for that series, -11 for the last two playoffs combined. Dude was an absolute detriment, but his defenders are the same people who call out Dean for doing nothing. So they can complain either way. It’s a win-win for them.
Let's face it, it's a pretty low bar to be better than Jost. I am with you as far as anticipating Greenway's return....until probably the 2nd period, when i start bitching about his lack of effort and inability to stay on his feet.

Pretty well expected. We'll see how Rossi does in the top six now. If he can't hang, I'd send him back and recall Shaw for the 4th line/13th forward duties.
Sure, let's send down the guy who showed a pulse, and keep the deadbeats who our GM picked up to make him happy.
At this point, is anyone really going to pick up Steel off waivers, and if so, does anyone really care?

Good point, but I'd keep him just until we know whether Rossi is gonna stick or not. Not that I want Steel back up there, but if we have to send Rossi down, I think I'd rather have Steel on that line than Shaw, Dewar or Duhaime.
Although now that I'm noticing that Steel has only won 10/24 faceoffs, I'm starting to wonder if I actually do want him there anyway.

Didn’t russo in a previous tweet mention jost and steel in regards to a tryout of sorts? I’d have to search for it but if both still show nothing maybe that is the route they go with steel? Waive and let jost be 13th forward
Back on topic... I wasn't expecting Greenway back for at least another week, so that's a good surprise if he can step right back into his previous role.
I view it more so that they are “speeding up” the timeline based on what Russo/LaPanta were saying on their podcast. They also got into a nice, semi heated exchange about how the Wild have been handling Rossi (put him in the top 6 vs make him earn his way up the lineup).
Yeah, that's it. You just have to wonder what the odds are that Steel is going to turn out to be anything at all. He looked decent in tryouts against team filled with lower tier NHL players, AHL players, and tweeners, but so far, I don't see what he does. Good speed, decent hands, but not enough to make a difference, and he certainly isn't a gritty player.

I'm fine with Rossi getting 10 games in a top 6 (if the Boldy line is our 2nd line and the Ek line is a traditional shutdown line) and then seeing how he plays and making a decision on AHL versus NHL after that. How is that not "earning" your spot?

I am completely fine with making Rossi earn his way into the lineup. I just don't see how Steel and Jost had to do it. Meanwhile, the one guy who "earned" at least a little playing time is sent back down to Iowa.
I get that waivers are part of the situation, but it annoys me when they pretend that someone is not playing because they didn't "earn it" on the ice, when the truth is more complicated.

Sounds perfect for the AHL. Have some talented young guy down there to polish his game and maybe grow into something otherwise no big loss as he won’t last in the nhl.

How do you know if you don't try it? You think you would've guessed Berube's changes would've produced such a dramatic result before hand? The only way to know is to try it. what we DID know? That the status quo was producing nothing but domination against us.
