I think if Sustr is this year's Benn, and people will be mad that he's playing and Addison is in the AHL.

Well, at least he's a RHD, and really tall. Opponents will have skate a bit further to get around him than Benn.

Prosser was just as garbage as Benn. Chip in a few points and end up about even for +/- when it's all said and done for the season.

They were both the same to me. A steady pressbox 7D that won't really cost (or win) you any games, but should only be on the ice for 10 emergency use games a season.

Prosser was just here so long that his flaws just became accepted.
 
If you didn't watch this, all the interviews after the first day of training camp, you shouldn't miss it. Guerin also shows up. And Kaprizov's English is getting much better, I'm impressed.

I love that Zucc snipes down Russo’s question to Kaprizov about this past summer and the whole Russia situation. I respect that a lot. I wouldn’t want to talk to the media about that.

Haha wow Russo can’t give him a softball to start, he has to jump right in with the hard hitting question?
 
I love that they’re like “we want to stick to hockey questions” and then KK gets asked like 5 more questions about the process of coming back to the US

It's probably difficult from PR standpoint because I doubt Kaprizov had any problems in Russia at all. As far as I understand the Wild forced him to come to NA as early as possible, otherwise he'd have come as usual, a week or two before the camp start.
 
Russo, and other journalists, will write about something that will get them readers. Writing about something potentially controversial, eye opening, or salacious, will get more looks for them than writing about Zucc and Kap's friendship, Dumba's practical jokes, and what a good captain Spurgeon is. The war in Ukraine is huge news, and Kap is the team's biggest star. Until someone else gets caught doing something naughty/illegal/outrageous, Kap is going to get questions on the war.

Maybe the team can manufacture something to take the heat off Kap? Enter JEE in RuPaul's Drag Race? Have Koivu announce a comeback?

Judging by their immediate reaction to look at each other and smirk, I like to imagine they had a bet on how soon they will be asked about Kaprizov's travel issues.
 
Zucc the bodyguard, it was smart not to let Kaprizov face the reporters alone.

There will not be any more questions about Kirill's private stuff. The reporters will have access to the locker room again, they don't want to jeopardize their welcome with the players.

That would be a good roster to watch IMO, shame no stream coverage.

Russo's latest is on Dumba and a good read, hoping that he has a monster year. Finally having an offseason could do him some good in the health department, the Middleton pairing is designed to get him more offensive touches against some of the less skilled guys, should be a good situation for a guy in a contract year. Whether he starts next year with us or not, it is in everyone's best interest for him to get off to a good start this year.

The narrative all off season was “we like Gaudreau, he can play anywhere in our lineup.” And “Rossi will have to earn it.”

Don’t know why anyone would expect different for preseason game 1.

It's also preseason game 1. I don't expect the top line to play a whole lot.
