LA Kings and Mike Richards have reached a settlement over his contract being voided: source. Likely to be announced today.

is it finally oveR????

Now the big question, what's the cap hit and for how long?

Either we will be very unhappy or the gears are going to be flying out of the main board machinery. Should be entertaining.

I don't know if I should grab some popcorn or box of tissues.

I dunno. I have to think Dean wouldn't have signed off on a settlement if it didn't provide the Kings with certain advantages. The idiots on the main board will cry foul, but when a player has by his own actions, made himself physically unable to perform as an NHL player, there has to be some recourse for the team.

I am very interested...I will only believe this is the end once it happens. For some reason I have the feeling that they will settle and there will still be some other grievance about the cap penalty

Oh man, I can't wait. Main board is gonna be epic.

Anyone else think that Richards decided to settle so he could sign with another team? I know he was a UFA, but maybe the other team had some reservations due to the dispute and wanted everything to be resolved first?

Seeing as how the NHLPA and NHL both have to sign off on this (at least that is what has been reported), I don't see how this saga continues.

No, I think he had a straight and that he was afraid Dean was holding a flush.

I could see it. Hope he finds a place somewhere.

I claimed from the beginning Richards would get his big check and the Kings would get their cap friendly buyout. I'm thinking I'll be pretty close.

Richards' will not sign anywhere. He's done...just like Dustin Penner and half the first cup winning second line.

Westgarth, Gagne, Fraser, MR, and Penner are all out of the league or retired. That was only 3-4 years ago. Pretty sad.

Mitchell is probably 1-2 years from retirement and Scuderi is hanging by a thread.
