I dont think Mitts gets a 1st.
CBJ don't have any 2nd rounders in 2025 or 2026. But they do have two 1st's this year, so one of those is a logical piece.

Mittelstadt might not be super valuable in our eyes right now given how he doesn't fit the Avs, but for a team like Columbus who dont play as fast he'd be a better fit. The two extra years of term are huge for them too. Given the paltry center market he'd be a really solid get from their perspective.

Hahahah all you thinking about Provorov or god forbid Werenski

We all know it's going to be JMFJ, and you will all love it.

Then go to Philly and get EJ and reunited the Johnson & Johnson pairing.

But seriously, I doubt CMac would need to scout JMFJ, they might know what he bring

Looks like Provorov plays the right side on their top pair with Werenski. Maybe if we get him he can play the right side of 2nd pair with G, then we find a cheaper LD to play with Manson on the 3rd pair. Otherwise Provorov doesn’t make too much sense

"We'd like to add a little bit right now, especially up front because were so banged up," said Waddell.
Does that sound like a GM who's ready to trade one of his top pairing Dmen?

Any fkn time now Cmac

Honestly, all this would’ve been solved if the Avs had just said eff it and traded for Eichel when they had the chance
If only. Sometimes I can’t help but to think about what it would be like if we had Nate and Eichel one two punch at center. We had interest in him for sure, and even Eichel said he thought he was going to Colorado. Maybe if Sakic and CMac knew back then how much the cap was gonna go up like we know now, they would have traded for Jack

Get as much of a futures package as possible back for Mitts from Columbus then use those futures to acquire a better 2nd line center.

Or, CMac is going to trade Mitts for Cole Sillinger and I'll lose my mind.

Mittelstadt has value. There seems to be a dearth of 2Cs in the league currently. Mittelstadt’s age and contract can work in the Avs favor. Take a GM like Conroy as an example. He didn’t sign Kadri to that deal and Mittelstadt could be a way to get out from under that contract while getting younger. Lots of lengthy contracts like this in the leagues for older Cs.

Jokes aside, I do think it would be a huge mistake to wait until the deadline. This team already looks like there are chemistry issues, the moves need to be made before or during the 4 Nations to let the new guys build as much chemistry as possible
You can only trade for what’s on sale. Too few teams on sale right now.

CBJ 1st + Kuraly for Mittelstadt + Wood.

Avs get:
- a high pick they can flip for another 2C;
$5.75m capspace;
- a 4C to push Kelly back to the wing (where he belongs).
- get out of the Wood contract. Kuraly's caphit is also $2.5m but expires this season.

CBJ get:
- a 2C with term;
- a forward with term at the same money as Kuraly to replace him.

The term on Mittelstadt and especially Wood isn't so attractive from the Avs perspective, but for CBJ getting guys with term is actually important, as GM Waddell said himself.

He's only playing there because Fabbro is hurt, he's usually playing with Severson

Not sure Provorov is the right fit. If he’s gonna play the left side, we gonna give up assets and a lot of money for him to play on the 3rd pair, or put him on 2nd pair and move Girard to 3rd pair in which case we would definitely need someone better than Malinski to play with G. I think Jones makes a lot more sense for the Avs

I'd prefer Jones for every reason besides Salary Cap, but Cmac is scouting someone from Cbus, and besides Danforth or Kuraly rentals, Prov makes the most sense, logically.

They won't be giving us Voronkov/Johnson/Sillinger for Mitts, even if they were the type of players the Avs normally target, which they aren't

Did the Avs trading Rantanen give other teams license to follow suit? Looking at similar scenarios around the league, you have Florida and Sam Bennett. It may seem unlikely Florida does this since they’re win now - but so we’re the Avs when trading Rantanen.

Would it be possible to pry Bennett out of Florida with the expectations of signing him? This is one player that I’d be willing to trade Mittelstadt and Ritchie for.

Why do they do it?

Mikko & Necas was easy to make sense of at the time.

Bo for Provorov? 😔

Seriously though, does CMac have any family in Columbus? Would make sense if he was in town during the break and is just visiting his old org.
