I have no idea how much NBA Coaches usually make(hell I don't really have much idea how much NHL Coaches make and I follow the sport WAY more) but $72 million over 6 years is such an eye popping number

I guess Monty Williams is glad he got fired a couple weeks ago now

edit: actually 78.5 million according to newer reporting so even more so

There's just no way any coach is worth that kind of money.

The Tigers are about unwatchable without Greene in the lineup.
Two doubles for Miggy, ties Dave Winfield in hits, super exciting!

Seriously though, you're right. Today's game was the first I've watched in a while, and it was pretty much what I expected. A squad of mostly quad-A players, underachievers, and whatever Javier Baez is... getting slapped around. Hate it. Want the Tigers to be good so badly. But even if some of their young, oft-injured pitchers eventually come through, Greene becomes a star, and Colt Keith continues his trajectory.... I'm not sure it's enough to be anything more than mediocre. It's devastating how barren the farm system is given how many high picks they've had. Especially when you see what a team line Cincinnati has done.

@Ed Ned and Leddy - What's your NBA Draft board for the Pistons at #5 (assuming they stay and make the pick for themselves)?

Question is for anyone of course.

There's like 6 guys I'm both equally excited and concerned about and overall they all seem to be at the same level.

Since I have to fully rely on the write-ups about these prospects, I would like either Whitmore or Walker, which seems like a classic higher ceiling/better floor-choice to me. I prefer the Thompson Twins as an 80ies band rather than options for the Pistons.

Thanks for asking! So I’m pretty open minded on tonight honestly. I think we missed out on the really eye-watering talent on lottery night, so it’s really about preferences between a close group of solid prospects imo.

I guess for me personally, I’m a bit scarred by seeing the Pistons swing and miss on so many raw but athletic wings over the years that I’m a bit apprehensive Ausar or even Whitmore to an extent. I certainly see the appeal though, and would be comfortable with the picks. I understand that a lotta folks are still in “BPA no matter how it fits” mode for the Pistons, and if that’s Weaver’s approach fair enough, but man I really would love to draft a player who can knock their shots down. I really like Hendricks for that reason. I think he and Duren could form a really defensively imposing front court while also providing a good outlet for Cade and Ivey, and I think starting to balance out the on court product is key for those guys’ development. On the flip side, watching a guy like Ausar struggle through a couple years of loose drives and missed shots is kind of a tough sell for me, and I’m not sure I’m convinced enough on either his ceiling or his ability to hit that alleged ceiling where I’m stoked on that decision.

All that said though, it’s a close group. Looking forward to seeing how things play out tonight!

Welp, there it is. I won't pretend to be a little frustrated to see us bet on a guy who shot .671 at the free throw line, but I definitely get the appeal and I'm hoping for the best.
Probably gonna be the 5th best player on the team when everyone’s in their prime.
