Lions jerseys are selling fast. Lions and NFL shop sold out of home and away jerseys S-2XL. That is impressive. When was the last time the Lions moved this much product? Should have ordered my Rodrigo jersey 2 weeks ago.

Cool to see some of the boys supporting DCFC.

I don't know anything about Harris but I like that he's young and has been involved with the Cubs and Giants recently.

interesting that it looks like this guy is an active GM

I know President of baseball operations is a title bump but he's basically leaving to do the same job

Ostensibly the same job, but he's going to have a lot more autonomy in Detroit. Full control. He's the head honcho for all operations now, which I'm sure is an exciting opportunity for him. Also, I mean, it's not like there's a higher position out there for him haha.

Exactly. In SF he's answering to Fahran Zaidi, who ultimately calls the shots.

Unlike the Astros, Cardinals, Dodgers or Rays, I don't consider the Cubs or the Giants as top-run franchise; actually I was hoping for an executive from one of these for talent factories. I also wonder how much input Harris had with Epstein/Hoyer and Zaidi being distinguished leaders ahead of him calling the shots.

However, Harris gets quite some praise. Signing him also is a more courageous choice than waiting for someone like Preller to be let go. I really hope this works out.

It seems to me that this year many teams had starters who made big leaps forward and sport shine ERAs near or even below 3.00. So the Tigers rotation might not seem special now; but I really think Turnbull, Manning, Rodriguez, Brieske/Skubal, Wentz et alia can be good, just like the bullpen. With Flores, Madden and Jobe in particular Harris might have the pitching mostly covered for quite some time at an affordable rate. With Cabrera's contract expiring next year, the Tigers should be able to sign a big-name FA for 2024 at the latest.

Not exactly front page news, but if you didn't see the Pistons news:

UTA receives: Kelly Olynyk, Saben Lee
DET receives: Bogjan Bogdanovic

Very nice move imo. Olynyk was a solid player, but I think this clears some room in our front court while giving Cade and Ivey a reliable shooting wing. Bojan is up into his 30s now, so this is only a stop gap move, but I think it gives the Pistons a much more balanced roster this season. He averaged 17, 20, and 18 points per game the past three seasons, shooting nearly 40% from three.

If I had to guess, I think the Pistons rotations will look something like the following next season, with some guys like Bagley and Stewart changing based on matchups:

1. Cunningham 2. Ivey 3. Bey 4. Bogdanovic 5. Bagley
1. Hayes 2. Burks 3. Diallo 4. Livers 5. Stewart
Extra: Joseph, McGruder, Knox, Noel, Duren

That fourth down call was terrible. Either try and throw for the first down or punt the ball. I don't care if it would only be a 30 net gain on the punt, you don't kick a FG when both kickers were horrible. Terrible terrible call. We were all screaming at the TV when they lined up for that FG, we all knew he wouldn't make it.

While I really dislike the field goal decision, I see very little distinguishable difference between that and going for it on 4th and 4. A failed conversion puts the Vikings in the exact same position. If we go for it and fail, the same conversation is happening. Similarly, if he makes the field goal, there is no conversation happening.

The bigger mistake was on 2nd and 10, 4 plays earlier, Goff drops back to pass and ends up throwing it at the feet of the running back because the defensive line blew up the play. This isn't a knock on Goff (although I wish he would have just laid down at that point), I just hate a pass play called when there's 2:30 left and you're trying to force Minnesota to burn their timeouts. We got lucky that there was defensive holding to give us a free first down.

I think the right call was to keep the clock running and punt, but alas, here we are.

The gripe I have with that fourth down was that no one had made a field goal kicking towards that massive open window. There was virtually no chance he was going to make a career long field goal kicking against that nonsense. If they would have gone for it on fourth down and failed, I could accept that. That field goal call was atrocious.

I don't think anyone would have accepted a failed 4th and 4 there. The argument would have been that the team had struggled on offense in the second half. The three previous drives before the missed field goal went as follows:

3 plays, -2 total yards, punt
4 plays, 18 yards, punt
10 plays, 48 yards, failed 4th & 1 conversion attempt.

There was clearly no reason to trust Seibert, but there wasn't reason to trust the offense either. Run the clock, punt, and pray to a higher power that Amani Oruwariye re-learns how to play man coverage without groping wide receivers every snap.

We're talking chances of success here. Just about everyone agrees the chance of success of going for it was significantly higher than the chance of success of making that field goal. Ergo, the field goal was a stupid move, regardless of where you thinnk the option of punting ranks in this scenario. And that was pretty well confirmed after Campbell later admitted he screwed up with that decision and should have went for it.
