I think Labanc is gone, and if we luck into Fantilli, I think he’s going to take the 2C spot from Couture.

?? - Hertl - Eklund
Bordeleau - Fantilli - Zetterlund
Eyssimont - Couture - Barabanov
Svech - Sturm - Kunin

Fabbro - Karlsson
Mukh - Benning
Okhoyiuk - Ferraro

…and we trade Vlasic for a hug.

EDIT: I think Karlsson is likely gone this summer and that may bring in more prospects/players that can fill in some of these slots.
We ain’t going anywhere with that defense. Why not let Vlassic play and eat up another year on the contract?

I also think EK is gone.

I agree Labanc is gone. It's whether they can get something for him before they resort to buying him out. If Fantilli would beat out Couture as a 2C, I don't think you make him 3C. He's making 8 mil and is still a salvageable trade asset where I think that sort of move could diminish him from that. You would put Couture on Fantilli's wing to keep his minutes up and put a vet with basically two rookies. Especially when Nico Sturm is playing how he is. He can fill the 3C spot and continue with Lorentz as your 4C.

Yeah, probably Mukh is going to be in the AHL for a bit unless he’s breaking out, so that’ll be Vlasic’s spot.

And no, we shouldn’t go anywhere - ideally we still get a top 10 pick. But I think it’s the beginnings of a fun, exciting young team that keeps adding new talent and growing together.

Now, if we can just get Bedard…

After trade, the Sharks have the following 2023 picks:

Own: 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th. NJ 1st (top 2 protected). 3rd from Carolina (lower of CAR or PHI). CBJ 5th (2022 draft day trade). AZ 7th (2022 draft day trade).

Ten picks.
Relieved. The more tickets the better chances we hit on a key piece to the championship puzzle. Meier was tough lesson in the strategy needed to be worked in order to turn a bad team Into a good one. You may have to take a big step back in order to take many steps forward.

Nobody wins with only icing a bunch of kids. No matter how talented they may be
I rather see Vlassics and Karlssons salary go else where
I mean, the Sharks aren't winning anything for four+ years anyway, even if they resigned Meier to an eight-year, league minimum extension. We have plenty of time to add veterans when this team is actually ready to compete.

Vlasic is also untradable - he's garbage worth league minimum.

I really hope they don’t buy him out, that seems so dumb. But we might.

And yeah, I think that makes a lot of sense - Couture - Fantilli - Bordeleau or Zetterlund.

I hope that Grier somehow manages to trade EK65 this week. We really need to lose and get the 1st overall.

You missed one. Jaycob Megna trade.
2023 4th round pick (SEA) [Conditional]*
*Conditions: Seattle decides by June 15, 2023 which 4th round pick (their own or Colorado's) to transfer to San Jose

I see teams you drafted high and they have had to wait much much longer that 3-4 years. Many of the games biggest starts are still waiting. If we're looking 7 or more down the road than winning it all means little and enjoying the game day experience is all that I'll have. So I would have been more than Good to have kept Timo.

But you have to plan accordingly to be competitive in 4-7 years. I’d love to not waste Eklund’s potential by holding on to players we love who will ultimately not help us when we’re ready but WILL hold us back from getting high end draft picks.
