Wow you guys should honestly be happy with that return. Okhotiuk is an underrated piece. Has become a fan favorite when he’s played. Fast defensemen runs players over. Certainly could be a solid NHL defensmen for you guys.

Devils fan coming in peace. You guys did well, I really like all the guys we moved. I really hope it pays off for both teams and finally we can end all the arguing lol.

Gents, its been a pleasure discussing Timo for a 150 pages and I really do believe you guys got a really nice haul, even if maybe some of you are not happy with it. I was a vocal opponent on drafting Mookie a couple of years ago and over the last couple of years I've changed my tune completely and I think he's going to be a pretty good NHL dman. Zetterlund doesn't have the elite upside, but you'll love him and he's a nifty top 9 spark plug.

If everything works out and you get a second first round pick as well, it's just gravy.

I have no skin in this game. But I’m seen a lot of bad tales online. As a Yotes fan, I’d have been thrilled to get a return like this for Chychrun. I think this is a huge haul.

Not trying to offend anyone who’s hurting right now. Just trying to be encouraging. I think you got a lot of very nice assets here.

Assuming you get two 1sts (don’t know the conditions yet).

As a Devils fan I was hoping that we'd keep Muk and you'd get Holtz instead.

Muk has continiously grown better each season since the draft, I would put him at the top of Russian D prospects along with the Canes Nikishin. He has a very long reach who manages to win most board battles, His point shot is very powerful and this season he has shown to have a pretty good offensive IQ by finding good places to shoot from.

His biggest weakness is that he sometimes struggles to make decisions when faced with 2 on 1 situations.

I think he'll be a good long term 2nd pairing Defenceman for the Sharks.

Zetterlund is a muscley grinder with some brains who always go into board battles and be a puck hound. He probably is a 3rd liner but can play up lines when the top lines need someone more physical.

Okhotyuk is a 3rd pairing D who can make crushing hits and is pretty good defensively. He always looks like he is playing a bit of catch up with what is happening on the ice.

Hope these players turn out good for you Shark fans!

Hi folks,

Congratulations on the Trade, though I understand that Timo will be missed.

Yes, it took a while to confirm

but hopefully these picks & players help expedite your rebuilding process. I know that NJ thought highly of Zetterlund & Mukhamadullin & are disappointed they’re included, but give to get as they say.

Cheers

Devils fan here. We all really liked Nikita Okh - he got beaten this year by Kevin Bahl - but last year he was pretty solid for us in limited action. Still young, has snarl, plays really good D, and can surprise you. He'll be a 3rd pair guy to start, but can develop.

Zetts - we all love Zetts. He's a Swiss Army Knife, we all thought he was close to a Blake Coleman.

Shakir - coming along, will be in NA next year, seems to be a great kid - but a little mystery has so few of us watch him given the league/time change. But he's done well w/Ufa.

Johnsson - weird player. Super up and super down. He's a throw in here, but it wouldn't surprise me if he became a serviceable 3rd liner again.

Yeah the plan was set in stone that he would come over next year. He played some AHL games for us last year.

Kid puts up impressive numbers in the KHL for someone his age. He should turn into a top 4 D

How much air are you sucking out of the locker room?
We’d all love to see Vlasic gone and free up money from Karlsson. Issue is there isn’t a real way to make that happen (Vlasic is maybe the worst contract in the league and has been such for 2-3 years). This isn’t the NFL where you just get to walk away from contracts with minimal penalty.

Like I said I wasn't going about trading Vlassic. Just ridding him from the locker room
That's what LTIR is for

This dude's graphs are pretty worthless, but I am happy that if they had a choice, they chose Muk over Holtz. Look at Holtz's comparables. I do not see any way how he doesn't end up like Goldobin or Dahlen, on any team. Also, Svechnikov!:laugh:

These types of charts and overrating 5’10 defensemen and perimeter forwards that feast on bad goaltending in lower levels.

Same charts had Merkley and Dahlen as future stars as well.

Got a plan to make him allergic to his gloves like Hossa? Maybe an inside connection with Tonya Harding? Otherwise, I think you’re mistaken on how LTIR works and if the team gets to control that process independent of the player.

Yeah, when the player wants to retire like Pronger, Weber, etc.

Vlasic still thinks that he’s a Norris caliber shutdown D-Man and should be playing 20+ mins a night. Add in his arrogant and douchey tone every time he speaks publicly and he’s not going to stop playing to do SJ a favor any time soon.

Reading the Mukh thread on the Devils board has made me feel much, much better about this trade.. and I already liked it. He is fascinating and has a ton of potential — I recommend reading the boards and the Russian guy who watches him play (and is very high on him).

What we need now is to lose as many games as possible and get Bedard or Fantilli, and suddenly the future of this team is maybe not so bad.

I think we also may get that Pulli fellow and Fabbro — that’s almost a complete rebuild of our defense which is ATROCIOUS, so… good.

Hopefully Grier can trade up in the draft (suggested he might) and get a top 15 defensive prospect - cause we still need a top 2 D-man in the pipeline.

How would you feel about signing Damon Severson (a Devil lol), he's 28/29 and will be UFA.

I have a feeling Grier might doing a refresh and taking the Seattle/Vegas style of roster building. He has a lot of forwards already and has to patch up the defense.

Labanc - Hertl - Eklund
Fantilli - Cooch - Bara
Zett - Sturm - Essy
Kunin - Svech

Severson - Karl
Benning - Vlasic
Muk/Okhoyiuk - Ferraro

Perhaps he's like Jessica Rabbit and is just drawn that way, but yeah I'd like him not being the senior stateman of our defense

lmao did the Preds get more for Jeannot than Meier got? NSH basically got an entire draft and Cal Foote.
Cal Foote is bad (would be the worst player in the NJD deal even with Johnson and his contract involved) and the 2025 pick won’t be relevant for over 2 years. So no, they didn’t get remotely close to the Meier deal.

That said, this is why we better trade Barabanov before Friday because cap control matters to these perennial contenders.

We got an extra pick In the 1st this year, potentially a first next year, and we improved our future D. And people are still depressed and complaining. Meier, no matter how much we love him, wasn’t going to make this team the team it needs to be in order to compete again. Like Grier said, you re sign him and you’re even more cash strapped and you have less options. If this is the best deal he could get, I for one am not arrogant or haughty enough to say I could’ve or would’ve done better.

I think Labanc is gone, and if we luck into Fantilli, I think he’s going to take the 2C spot from Couture.

?? - Hertl - Eklund
Bordeleau - Fantilli - Zetterlund
Eyssimont - Couture - Barabanov
Svech - Sturm - Kunin

Fabbro - Karlsson
Mukh - Benning
Okhoyiuk - Ferraro

…and we trade Vlasic for a hug.

EDIT: I think Karlsson is likely gone this summer and that may bring in more prospects/players that can fill in some of these slots.

I'm curious what JW would have gotten, or if he would've just said "okay here you go Timo, $80M over 8 years full NMC call it even?"

Oh I didn't realize that Dante Fabbro was a d-man haha. I must have mixed him up with Robbie Fabbri or something.
