You are aware that the Russian camp roster has been released, are you not? I only bring that up because that roster is nearly identical to the SSS roster. We can argue more about the other issues, but your lack of knowledge about your own team roster doesn't exactly fill me with confidence that you have the slightest idea what's going on in this tournament.

I hope we can agree on the definition of the B-team. It's the full second best roster, right? A full roster are 23. So 37 on camp roster is nearly 2 full rosters. Gives the A-team and the B-team. Well, for the SSS(as I wrote for the first time actually) most guys who are locks were left behind in Russia(and Finland). Also the CHL players were given tryouts this time more than before when they were considered locks(the glorious NHL draft first rounder Scherbak is officially out and for the simple reason. He wasn't good enough for now).

So in general talking about the SSS roster as being identical to a 37 men camp roster ist absurd as well as in partical overlooking the fact that the offensive core as well as the no.1 goaltender weren't there. And while the D was closer to the WJC roster there were some omissions too.

So here's the list for you:

G: Sorokin (considered no.1)

D: Glukhov, Baldaev(injured, out for WJC too), Zadorov

F: Mamin(was there, got injured like 5 minutes into the first game), Sharov, Goldobin, Buchnevich, Kamenev, Golyshev, Zykov

If those player partipated in the SSS we could talk about a roster close the A-team roster. Rosters at SSS were pretty even in regard of their "closeness" to the WJC roster. In fact at the very least half the guys from the SSS won't be at the WJC for Russia.

And yeah, I have no idea about Russia's roster.:sarcasm:

Slovakia gets the gold! Opposing players will die of laughter caused by our defenders from Orange U20, who can barely skate, and then maybe we will be able to pull of a 1:0 win - mark my words.

Now seriously:
1. Canada
2. USA
3. Czech Repulic (really hope you guys finally get a medal)
4. Sweden
5. Russia
6. Finland
7. Switzerland
8. Slovakia
9. Germany
10. Denmark

1. Canada
2. USA
3. Czech Republic
4. Russia
5. Sweden
6. Finland
7. Switzerland
8. Slovakia
9. Denmark
10. Germany

Who cares? Lollipop does this song and dance all the time. There are three medals. A good team won't get one. It happens.

funny how the US is only good at junior level and garbage at senior level. This is something have never understood.

And that will be Sweden of course and not USA, Canada?

Every year we hear how USA and Canada will dominate. But they don't. Sweden has been in 5 finals the latest 7 years. That's more finals than what Canada and USA have together! Why are Canadians and Americans so arrogant or uninterested in the other teams?

Garbage? We have a more recent medal at the Men's senior WCs than Canada (a tournament American players tend to not take seriously)

As for the Olympics, we have done okay. A silver at SLC and Vancouver. Losing to Canada in a hard-fought semi in Sochi isn't anything to be ashamed over either

Sweden may very well win gold. I never said they can't/won't. The issue is you never offer anything of substance to justify your position. It's always rage about "the other guy." Also, the WJCs like a lot of sports events should only be evaluated based on what a team can do in the immediate present. What Sweden did five years ago has no bearing on what they will do this year. The terms even change on a yearly basis.

Sweden has won gold twice. Care to guess how many times Canada has won?
That being said, I will cheer for Nylander and the Swedes....after I cheer for Canada

You always lose to canada in big games at senior level. It's an automatic loss. I mean garbage in relative how great the US junior teams are.

I have no problem admitting that US junior teams are better than Sweden, just baffled that it hasn't shown at senior level yet.

You are aware that Canada has just recently come off a 14 year medal streak, right? And the US has a couple of golds in the last five years, and is generally more of a consistent threat than in previous decades. Yes, Sweden has been good recently as well, but with this tourney being held in North America on small ice, and both North American teams looking particularly stacked this year. I think they can easily be considered the two favorites. The fans on this site are by no means uninterested in the other teams, and though there may be some arrogance brought on by bias to one's own country, you're by no means immune to that either, if you catch my drift. ;)

Americans always say they dont care. If they lose they say "No one in the states even likes hockey" and when they win" WE ARE THE BEST EVER"

in the last 5 years, Sweden has consistently been the best team.

He is talking about this year. Both Canada and the US will come out on top of Sweden

This is said EVERY YEAR!!!!

Ohhhhh USA and Canada are sooooo good and heavy favorites. Sweden is so weak bla bla bla blaaaaaa.

Is there any tournaments that you North Americans do not think you are superior Sweden and the rest of the Euros?

To say this is in NA: Sweden won gold in Canada. No North American team played in the gold medal game.

Really thought you'd give your Otters McDavid and Baptiste a medal for sure.... lol

Gotta be objective. I will be interested to see how McDavid will be coming off of his hand injury.

The one thing I have noticed about Canada the past two WJC's, and what I think will happen again this year, is they are not very well coached and do not play well together. They have arguably the most talented roster but the Euro's always get a system down and play extremely well together, and I think USA will this year as well. USA's roster is right up there with Canada in terms of talent.

Of course I would love to see them succeed, and a Canada-USA gold medal game would be epic.

Wow. Inferiority complex? That was my prediction, relax. I will be cheering for Sweden to get silver amd Canada to get gold

Wow, no chill.

Hockey will always be hard to predict, esp. at WJC, WC, Olympics.

As usual Canada has the team with most talent, USA looks really good to. Then there is teams like Finland  who has proven again and again how far team work can get you. Then there is a bunch of other teams who may battle for the gold.

When we can't evaluate team play, coaching etc its a pretty valid way to judge a team by it's talent even tho we know it does not work out that way for most of the times - like when Finland  won last year or Canada missing out on a lot of medals these last couple of years. It's the nature of the game.

HFBoards have listed Sweden as favourites for the last several years, actually. This is the first time in a while that they haven't had some serious buzz about them. [mod]

Such a bias thread. 95% of posters will just vote their home country as #1. Their #2 pick is who they most likely feel will win.
