McDavid after 43 this year

35 G 43 A 79 P
16 ahead of Draisailt
20 ahead of closest non teammate
First in goals and assists

McDavid after 43 last year
23 G 38 A 61 P
3 back of Draisailt
3 back of Huberdeau
12th in goals and 5th in assists

I don't know why we expect him to regress to his 123 P season from last year.

McDavid is pulling away from Matthews.

This is important news in their head-to-head rivalry.

What he does in this day and age where it's increasingly hard to separate yourself from the pack is just insane. One of a kind, I have never seen a player this talented.
He is great.

But Gretzky and Lemieux were greater.

I agree. The way the puck sticks to him at speeds no one else can access defies reason. I've never seen anyone like him. My first favorite player was Bobby Orr, so I'm not exactly a new hockey fan lol. His edges and puck skills are immortal at this point.

Let's talk in a decade and a half. If he stays healthy, I honestly think he may be in the #1 ever conversation by the time his career is over.

There is no head to head rivalry between McDavid and Matthews. Unless you consider Coca Copa’s true rival to be RC Cola.

No one is close to McDavid.

150 point regular season and Jack Campbell in net for the playoffs. Do the math.
No, it would be Skinner.

He's one player on a team. He can't control how the D and goaltender play on any given night.

He's a leader. Last year's playoffs proved he can carry a team as much as any player can, but no one does it alone.
I was being sarcastic. Common argument used by people with a mental impairment.

He hasn't dominated his peers the way Gretzky and Lemieux did.

That is the first thing I look at when judging greatness and comparing players from a historical perspective.

McDavid lost scoring races to Kucherov and Draisaitl.

These are very good players, but Gretzky and Lemieux never lost scoring races to "very good players".
