What about Toronto not wanting to risk getting a penalty when Calgary was already playing 6v5 and giving them a better chance to tie the game.
Says a lot that they'd value a meager 1 point over their goalie's health, if true. That kind of thing doesn't send the right message.

Give me a break.

The guy got cross-checked from behind and knocked off his feet. To think that he would be in complete control of his body after that is ludicrous. To think that there would even be enough time for him to THINK about deliberately dropping a knee on someone is a reach, let alone enough time to execute such thought.
Sorry...cross checked from behind? Like, was it on a different shift, and he was only now reacting to it?

If Tkachuk is not suspended for Tuesday's game maybe he will need to have a fight with Wayne Simmonds.
And he'll step up for that fight, if needed. But I don't think there was any intent and both teams will have forgotten about it by Tuesday's puck drop

Wow I didn’t see this angle, no doubt that was on purpose. There is no way he should’ve been allowed to skate away after that. He should’ve been pounded into the ice. I realize fighting is going away, but maybe if someone fed him his teeth he’d think twice about doing that again.

I would’ve liked Bogo to cave his face in but at that stage of the game with less than a minute left and only up by one he wouldn’t want to take a retaliation penalty and put the Flames on the power play. For the situation he did about all he could.

Calgary is just as soft.

Nobody did squat when Simmonds took his dangerous boarding penalty either.

lol. Calgary is not that soft of a team, we’ve probably been involved in the most line brawls in the past 5 years and we consistently back eachother. You haven’t watched many Flames games if that’s your argument, especially if you’re a Leafs fan. I mean, we have multiple forwards who play a grimey game, considerably more than Leafs forwards. Giordano and Andersson are far from soft.. we might be soft in a western conference, but not in the Canadian division. We were 6th of all playoff teams for most hits last season. We physically destroyed a Winnipeg Jets team.

And as a Flames fan, I didn’t really mind the Simmonds hit, wasn’t dirty at all in my mind.

Please. If a Leaf does do something to Tkachuk they’d likely have given the Flames a powerplay. If Flames tie it up then win OT or a shootout then Tkachuk gets the last laugh. Especially since every game is a four point game, can’t afford to be that cavalier in a tight game were points mean everything.

The level of stretching that some flames fans do to defend this guy is ridiculous. You can see his leg go up and then he instantly drives it down on Campbell's back. The fact that this guy has history makes this clear and cut for me. Honestly, what a POS play by him.
Yeah, how dare people have differing opinions. Clearly just biased unlike everyone else who isn't biased against anyone in this play.

If having a biased opinion is believing that players shouldn't drive their knee into the back of a helpless goalie that's laying flat on his belly, then I guess I have biased opinion.

What do the last 5 years have to do with the soft lineup the Flames are currently icing?

They used to be a tougher team to play against. They aren't that team anymore.

Looks like we’ll be treated to “the league must do a better job of protecting goaltenders because it’s a league-wide problem” editorials on TSN and Sportsnet.

Turtlechuk hopefully gets his face caved by Bogosian or Simmonds.

He needs to answer the bell for that one.

He fought Kassian when he needed to, his dad played in the NHL. He’s well aware of the Code, he’ll answer the bell early then the game will settle in.

Well, 2016 Flames team has roughly the same core as today. Even going back two years my statement is true. I agree, Flames used to be tougher, but they’re still one of the more agitating/rougher Canadian teams.
