He has three...

So what you're saying is we need new falling on the goalie standards.

Let's see if I have a handle on things here. Campbell didn't think it was a big deal, Keefe didn't think it was a big deal, the Leafs didn't think it was a big deal, Tkachuk didn't think it was a big deal, Ward didn't think it was a big deal, the media didn't think it was a big deal, the league didn't think it was a big deal.

HFBoards: he basically murdered him
Just watch his left knee. That’s basically all that needs to be said.

These guys are professionals, they likely just don’t want to make a big deal out of it

For the record Campbell never said it wasn't a big deal what Tkachuk did, so here is his actual quote.

I have a hard time getting a handle on the idea that the players, coaches, management, officials, etc express themselves openly and honestly with the media all of the time.

I should add, the media thought enough of it to ask everyone involved, hence the various opinions given on the subject.

No suspension upcoming because NHL is joke when it comes disciplining their players and it go backs a long time, even shanahan was a joke. When they introduce the instigator rule, the rats/snakes w/e you want to call them took over and the NHL has failed to teach these players that there is line you don't cross. Don't get me wrong im glad the fighting seems to be out its way out the NHL, too many good people have suffered because fighting and continue to suffer even after retiring.

NHL now has so many skill players who do snaky/rat stuff like this knee to head, brad marchand, nazem kadri, brendan gallagher, tkachuk bothers and im sure i am missing some. NHL seriously needs a new commissioner but that's whole another conversions. Campbell seems like hes going to be find but what long term, NHL needs to protect the health of their players so they can actually retire healthy and not like marc savard.

This post perfectly sums up the quality of hf these days. Especially coming from a mod.

Because I’m a mod, does that mean I can’t be a fan? Tkachuk is literally my favourite hockey player, he plays the game within the game better than any other player in the league. It’s a lost art what he does, he plays the psychological aspect of hockey as good as Claude Lemieux.

If I actually believed Tkachuk meant to injure Campbell, I wouldn’t be condoning it. But he always walks that line in order to make his opponents come undone. I have zero issues with the play. Every single GM would absolutely love Tkachuk on their team because of how he plays the game. Tkachuk is going to be our eventual captain and management just loves the kid.

This thread is literally all the proof that anyone needs to illustrate how good Tkachuk is at what he does. He’s going to relish being a target next game, that’s exactly what he wants.

Tkachuk, living rent free in all the heads of the Leafs players and their fans. God I love Chucky!

Tkachuk: knees a guy in the head
Leafs: deny giving him an instigator with 30s to go in a one goal game
Campbell and Keefe: don't buy into his sideshow, refuse to make him a target
Flames: lose the game

Flames fan: RENT FREE BRO RENT FREE

Well since no call was going to be made on Tbag the only thing that Bogo could do he did... if he grabbed that little prick and gave him a man beating the leafs would be down a man (and knowing the way dpos is he'd end up suspended himself somehow ) and the flames would have a chance to change the outcome of a 4 pt game.

Better to wait and feed him his lunch as he has to face us another 8 times.. this tuesday being next.

Enjoy feeling like kings for a day after beating the lowly nucks.

The lowly Nucks just embaressed one of the teams that beat you this season. What was the excuse for the loss against the lowly Senators?

1967, unless you were alive and saw that great cup parade, wait until you actually see a Stanley Cup parade or just win a damn playoff series before you start chirping other fan bases.

54 damn years man... NO playoff success in 16 years... man that is pathetic.

How do you figure? What Leaf fans say has no bearing on the ice and all Leaf players have said nothing about it. Delusions of grandeur?

I hope you can stay on the righteous path when someone goes knee first into Markstrom.

There's nothing wrong in cheering for the mattcookes of the hockeyworld. Just dont act suprised when most people dont like cowards who intent to injure other players on a daily basis

You just go to the other end, and do the same thing to their goalie.....no biggie...not sure the leafs have that player, but eye for an eye still exists in the NHL.
MT is a $hit rat and everyone knows it....

Fans, yes. Players seem unfazed and I hope it stays that way for game time. Biggest mistake they could make is getting drawn into Matthew Tkachuk's game plan.

Scumbag move. Maybe he would have falled nevertheless, but that is not a normal way to fall. Players who have respect towards other players will try to avoid falling on top of goalies. Tkachuk on the other hand drives his knee hard as he can to Campbell's neck.

Just saying, not everything should be condoned. For context, most Leafs fans were OK with dumping Kadri after his second playoff suspension in a row for a cheap shot. Personally, I hate Tie Domi to this day over the Niedermeyer incident.

I am in your boat. I loved Domi growing up, always wanted him on the team. What he did to Niedermeyer was just despicable. Not that what Tkachuk did was anything even remotely as serious as that incident, I still can say domi was an ass on that play.
I compare this whole thing to Marchand spearing dudes in the nuts. Everyone says that any team would love to have Marchand, but that does not make him any less of a shitweasel.

God's country just outside of Calgary
Everyone is saying that Tkachuk kneed Campbell's head/neck.
Is everyone just blind or are they purposely being obtuse for hyperbole sake because a head shot sounds way worse and dramatic?
Its obvious from every picture I've seen that Tkachuk's knees landed square in the middle of campbell's back right on the jersey numbers.

Whether it was on purpose or it was not is another debate but t least get the facts straight and stop making things up to make the crime sound way more serious and to justify your hate.

Tkachuk actually has three suspensions because of these plays.

3 cheap shots on unsuspecting players, what a surprise.

The first one is a little tap in the back of the legs but the gutless coward waited until the Detroit player was off the ice before he slashed him.

I guess Keith taught his kids all his tricks

You understand there was forward motion right? That's where he ends up. All you have to do is watch the gif in the first post. If you want to say the top of his shin made the most contact with Campbell's head, fine. I'm sure that made it feel better.

Agreed, which was weird when Kassian went out of his way to slander Tkachuk’s name. Unprofessional, you could say.

Regardless, the past is the past. Time to move on. No suspension, overreaction as per usual HF.
