Would you consider Spooner an established center?

Ha funny you bring him up as I almost referred to him (for the first time in years) just a few minutes ago in another thread.

To answer your question: yeah, I would. A good NHL center? No. But a guy who had a fairly established role on the team, albeit briefly? Yup.

But I think that answer says a lot. This team, at least in the recent past, hasn’t employed speedy centers. And they’ve had their fair share of success without them. Would I be against them? Of course not. But give me two way centers and reserve the speed for the guys on the wing if in some make believe world you can’t have both.

Question about when they say the player needs to get stronger.
Is that in relation to his current opponents, or if he is to play in the nhl.

I mean , isn't that a no brainer comment for an 18 year old to play in the NHL, with some very, very rare exceptions. Yes, there maybe 18 year olds playing in the nhl, but they too will have to get stronger.

Welcome to the Jungle
I live in Guelph ....and watch the Guelph Storm but not last year when Matthew Poitras played ...mostly due to covid reasons but I'll make an effort to see him live at least 10 times this year coming up ... I'm no scout but I've watched and played hockey my whole life so I'll fill you in with my opinion as it comes ... I'll try and see him vs weak and strong teams, see him against elite shut down defenders, etc, and see if he can rise to the occasion.... sounds like he has compete and play making abilities, two things not teachable so I'm optimistic ...if anyone has any specific questions or sees team matchups they'd like me to see for specific reasons, let me know, I'll try to make it and fill you in (just got back from a week at the beach ...Sandbanks beach in Picton for you Ontarioans and Quebecers in the know for world class great lake beaches ...so first I'm able to respond to respond to the draft. )
I’m interested in your thoughts on who will be a better pro between Poitras and Zhilkin. That story line intrigues me.

He's now the #2 scorer in the OHL among 2004-born players and #17 overall on one of the lower scoring teams in the league.
Interestingly, the guy aehad of him is David Goyette. There was a lively debate between Poitras, Goyette and some others here on draft day. Another guy who was in the mix was Ludwinski but he's had a rough year as have a few other OHL forwards who went ahead of Poitras.

Overall, I'd say there haven't been many guys from the 2022 who have held their draft stock; it's looking like covid hurt a lot of them.

I really really really wanted the Bruins to draft Goyette and was massively disappointed they didn't. Overall I do think Poitras is having a strong year but would have loved someone like Goyette in the system.
