He's played great and fully looks the part of a top 6 player. Phenomenal vision and playmaking. Can he physically handle a full NHL season and playoffs against men? Not sure. Only question I have on him at this point.

not getting ahead of myself as I "think" how things will play out is Poitras will get a look within the 10 game window and then is returned to the OHL BUT, let`s say, he simply makes it impossible for the brass to send him down, what does that do for the lineup, cap space, contracts etc...? if anything

he's signed for $870K which is 70-100K more than Boqvist, Brown, Greer and Lauko and about 50K less than Beecher. So if he takes a spot from any of those guys it's minimal change to the cap. If they think he can play a top 6 role things get pretty interesting.

A bit early to start etching his HoF plaque with a grand total of 0 NHL games played. I remember when people were doing victory laps when Senyshyn scored 40 in OHL. Lets see if he turns into a regular player first. He certainly seems to have better hockey brain than most of the failed prospects in the past few years, which is promising.

Everyone stop being happy and make sure not to forget bad things that happened in the past!

Excitement = etching his name into the HoF? Would love to see the work behind that math.

I'm certainly not expecting a hall of fame career, but I am pleased he stepped up with the opportunity. I'm in wait and see mode because this sort of buzz is generally only reserved for our good-uns so ....there's a chance he will be ok?

That would be a good problem to have as center is probably our shakiest position and Poitras natural position is center. We'll figure out the cap thing if it comes to that but if Poitras is the real deal, you make room for that 870k. That's only 1.05% of the total cap space.

It's more likely that Poitras gets sent down to develop more with his OHL team after his cup of coffee is done but I'd love for him to play so well that he actually gives the brass reasons to keep him up with the big club.

think you are right too and I have no issues with that, he doesn`t strike me as the kind of kid who`ll pout going back to the OHL

Pretty sure not a single person is using your inane hyperbole.

I think most would be pretty happy if it happens that he earns a trial stint in the NHL to start the season. That would surpass most peoples’ expectations at this stage in his young career. And I’d argue that from what I’ve seen, he’s earned that trial. Even if it means losing a player or two on the waiver wire that you weren’t banking on to start the year.

Even if he’s sent back to juniors to start the season, I think we can agree that this preseason has been encouraging for Poitras and that we’ll be watching him with excitement as he develops.

The only thing he'll gain in the OHL is muscle/stamina at this point. But maybe that would be a big thing for him to gain at this point.

I think he held his own once again. He gets those 9 games, no hesitation. After that? Who knows.
I'd give him 9 too, to give him a taste. But that's it for me. Kid needs another year of growing to last a full NHL season and the last thing I want to see is him miss time to a concussion at age 19..

The B's know what they've got in this kid, and they'll take care of him as best they can. Some fans won't like it, but I think its best for him long term...

I agree he’s earned the 9 games. We’ll see if that happens, and what happens after, but would be great for him to get a taste of the NHL and likely take one more year to refine his game.

Whatever the outcome, hard to not be thrilled with his development and future.

Kid is good. He is delivering which is great. Happy for the kid. Boston needs to be smart though.. if he stays, reading people here, expectations are that he will be ask to play top 6 minutes.... that is a heck of a task for a kid.
