I'm on board with calling Murray injury prone to the max, but I don't think this is an instance which can be pointed to that. This was a fluke accident that likely wipes out any other goalie the way it happened and he landed.

When you are as injury prone as M4tt Murr4y you need to have eyes in the back of your head and your head on a swivel. :sarcasm:

I don’t know. He landed on his back and his helmet barely touched the ice. Being in Judo for 17 years and occasionally being dropped on my back from 5 feet in the air I can say this is a tame landing all things considered. Guys just made of glass

I do.

I am 6ft5 too and I have been sleuth footed in both junior and pro and when you don't see it coming and land on your back and whiplash with your head hitting ice you see stars asap .. you have no vision for what seems like a minute but really only seconds .. it is completely disorienting .. back in my day no one really knew what a concussion was so you got back to bench and then played next shift .. no one got a shift off unless you were yaking in which case you went back to room for a bit and then back to bench

Not true at all. I got a concussion from hitting my head on the ice around 1970, the public school nurse checked me out and told me I had a concussion. Again, this was a public school, not the Mayo clinic. Might be more accurate to say that often times people that ran hockey teams pretended not to know, but they knew.

The Glass Man needs time to heal

Go 2013 Joffrey Lupul on us Murray when you come back for the playoffs

Play 8-9 playoff games give 6-7 starts with crazy numbers

I hope he’s okay. You can’t correlate his injury prone status (which he has been) with this particular injury though. Freak accident.

Not justifying this but we’re lucky this didn’t happen to Samsonov. We already know he’s our starter and losing him is much more detrimental. This gives Woll a chance to show he’s legit, I believe he is, and if he can demonstrate even backup quality.

Still, would be nice to have playoff experience in net.

Love for Woll to get 3 starts of the remaining games and would be great if he would allow 2 or less in each outing, then we can think of Woll as a legit b/u for po

Don't think we can judge this yet.

Season is not over, and Leafs did get a couple assets to take the risk.

The 3rd round pick in 2023 draft got shipped to STL along with Leafs 1st in 2023 and 2nd in 2024 for Ryan O'Reilly.

So if Ryan O'Reilly wins the Conn Smythe then we can judge this Murray trade as a smashing success. Nobody would care even if Murray never plays another game in a Leafs jersey :wg:

At this point I’m more comfortable with Woll anyway. I wonder if Murray is going to end up joining Muzzin on the LTIR next season.

Probably even more fair to say that no one wanted to have one either .. it was different times and a different culture especially in hockey .. the finger test was used to assess guys by trainers who basically had almost zero medical training .. and trainers and coaches helped keep guys in da lineup unlike today where guys are held out when medical people don't know if there is a concussion
