Bob Paycheck is gone, Big Papa Iger is back! This is good for for both Marvel and Star Wars and other creatives in Disney.

As someone who loves the parks (went the last two years, including last month) I love this. Also the parks people I follow are overjoyed. Can’t wait to hear Podcast: The Ride’s take on this.

Hyperion as the villain in Thunderbolts?

According to film insider @DanielRPK (via Comic Book), Marvel is currently casting an actor to play Hyperion, Marvel’s “evil Superman” stand-in to serve as the main antagonist of Thunderbolts. Allegedly, Ryan Gosling and Alexander Skarsgard are Disney’s top choices to play the role.

Chapek's right hand man and first(?) hire when he took over.

Blade has found a new director and script writer:

I still just want someone to come out and say whether the MCU Blade will be English or American

Indeed most everyone associated the Snipes American version of Blade and his story with the character though he is indeed British born and the backstory is different in many ways.

I don't feel strongly about it either way but I think I'd like to see the an English version to set it apart from Snipes'. I think generally in the comics lately Blade's look has been entirely based on the Snipes' movies but he's kept his British origins. I don't think Jason Aaron has thrown many British-isms into Blades dialogue in the recent Avengers run so I wouldn't blame most for still reading him with an American accent.

Just randomly thought of this scene last night. I didn't realize, until I went to find a clip, how many people found it extremely disturbing or nauseating. One YouTube comment described how the theater crowd was laughing out loud at first, and then instantly went dead silent.

I think there's an upper limit to how much gore can be effective in Marvel movies, but this may have moved the bar up a notch.

Doesn't do anything to me, but the laughing out loud you often experience in movie theaters when exposed to gore is a natural response to abjection, which is triggered - in its simplest explanation - by being confronted to our own materiality, when you realize your body is meat and bones. Some horror films exploit this natural trigger to great effect.

In case I think it was more like the audience had a “lol got em” reaction at first, because Wanda’s counter-attack had almost a slapstick quality. Can’t say anything to me if you don’t have a mouth, lol! And then it pivots into BB’s genuine horror (which Anson Mount sold really well) and *pop*.

Kind of like Reed Richards being turned into spaghetti is a silly looking spectacle, until she pops his head like a grape. Or the sudden shock of Professor X having his head ripped off.

Raimi didn’t have the latitude to go full-on horror, but he did a really great job of leading the audience in one emotional direction and then pulling the support out from under them. The suddenness of the tone shift (and the memorably gross mechanism of death) is probably why it impacted some people so strongly.

Now they are saying Sentry and not Hyperion which makes more sense given I don't remember Hyperion ever being on the villain side but Sentry has hAd mental health issues and his battle with the Void . He is also a subject of a super soldier serum like so many of the reported members of the Thunderbolts will be which makes for an interesting battle if they go that way though Sentry is far stronger than any of the Thunderbolts in the comics.

He very much wants to play Thor again.
Hemsworth is taking some time off from the business after he completes the obligations on a couple of projects. He was diagnosed to be more susceptible to ALS than the average population. He says he grandfather suffers from it.

Important to have your priorities in order when you get news like that.

He's slowing down his work schedule. If I've understood correctly, he still has one more Thor movie in his contract. That one isn't coming out soon. He can easily take time off before doing that.

I need to go back and re-watch MoM I think. Haven't watched it since seeing it in theaters and I feel like a 2nd time through will leave me with better thoughts on it tbh.

Also, didn't think about this to much at the time but damn was Wanda/Scarlett Witch so extremely powerful in this movie. Very much looking forward to where she shows up next and if she holds onto those powers. I'd venture to guess she might be the strongest "Avenger" at this point assuming she returns with those powers.

One of the hardest laughs I ever experienced was one of the deaths in the first Final Destination. The bus (spoiler?). Me and my friend laughed so uncontrollably at that moment.

There was a mom.and her teen daughter sitting in front of us. Just as we were starting to calm down the girl said "Mom, why are they laughing?" And we started up again.

Almost full Robert DeNiro in Cape Fear.

The scene in “The Ring” where the horse falls off the boat and gets chopped up by the propellers always makes me laugh. It’s so gruesome and shocking.

During a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Chris Hemsworth stated Thor 5 would have to be “drastically different” from the last two Taika Waititi movies for him to return.

I mean you look at Thor one and two, they were quite similar. Ragnarok and Love & Thunder: similar. I think it’s just about re-inventing it. And I’ve had such a unique opportunity even with [Avengers] Infinity War and Endgame to do very drastic things with the character; I enjoy that, I like keeping people on their toes, it keeps me on my toes, keeps me invested. And I’ve said this before: when it becomes too familiar, I think there’s a risk of getting lazy I think, like ‘Ah, I know what I’m doing,’ you know? So I don’t know – again, I don’t even know if I’m invited back. But if I was, I think it’d have to be a drastically different version – tone, everything. Just for my own sanity

I mean they made a parody with Love and Thunder so I kind of get it ... I can't imagine him playing Thor being a 5th movie, but if they tone down the humour and get a bit more serious, that might be a nice send off.
