If they wanted him to increase his scoring then put him at center where he’s played his best. And why do we need to address the blueline? We did that by moving Fowler and getting trouba; and now we’re scratching one of Zell and Minty constantly.

exactly - numbers aside i've been really happy with Z this year. He's playing harder in all 3 zones and is slightly more physical

I don't buy the narrative that Pat (or any GM really) cares less about players they didn't draft. He signed Terry to a 7 year contract.

Sure any player could be traded at anytime but I think Z would only get traded if the package was a clear win or if was failing to do what the org asks of him. But Cronin has had nothing but praise for him.

Yeah I think he definitely prefers a style of player. But I also think he's okay with smaller, skill guys so long as they don't make up the bulk of the team.

I guess time will tell!

I dunno. Fantilli has the style the fits most to what Verbeek wants, but he chose the crafty, finesse player in Carlsson in the draft.

It's a good point, on paper Fantilli is 100% more Verbeek's style.

I do wonder if Pat wants Leo to keep his craftiness but play with a more physical edge.

“ Beckett can play any way needed a skill game or a physical game” was the quote if I remember correctly. As well as that Beckett rised up in the playoffs a big game player etc and yes high iq players are targets of his also. Correct

We know what type of culture and play style Verbeek wants because of his 2022 draft. That's why before the 2023 draft, I said Fantilli fits what Verbeek wants, but I still prefer what Carlsson brings in his craftiness and finesse. Even Fantilli wore a plum 3-piece suit. And that was before Cronin took to the ice.

Two years have passed and we see that Verbeek believes all prospects can be molded similarly into the type of player he wants. Verbeek has never heard of "square peg into a round hole", but rather endorses "Stepford Prospects" into submission.

Verbeek told us what kind of traits in players he is looking for. Compete, hockey IQ and skating. Skating however isnt as high of a priority as it can be taught and improved.

I hope it doesn't happen. Cozens has 26 points with the Sabres who are 13th in goals for. I don't see those numbers suddenly improving going to a Zegrasless Ducks who are last in the league in goals for. His faceoff numbers are just slightly better than McTavish's. I wouldn't mind getting Cozens in the mix but I think there's better ways of getting talent to the Ducks than moving core pieces for other teams core pieces in similar situations . A 2026 first rounder and some combo with one of the many prospects for Cozens might be a better way to go if the Ducks are planning a run at the playoffs next year.

Not expecting much at the deadline, but PV really needs to (and will) make a move to acquire a top 6 talent this offseason. We really need to add a scorer.
