You clearly have an anti-Nylander bias and can't let it go.

I'll say you'd eat your words but your style of poster will just move on to your next OCD player obsession.
This^^^^^

Plus no matter what Nylander does, there will be phantom reasons to continue on the crusade.

Sad and pathetic posts.

Anyone entertaining trading Marner at this point has lost the plot....completely. Also, if you actually expect Dubas to publicly state he would entertain trading him, you're a complete maroon.

I don't expect Dubas to tell us who has contacted him about marner.

Of course Dubas will listen to offers, it's the only polite thing to do when you have to deal with player trades all the time.

You build relationships by communicating with other GM's.

What narrative?

You're already conceding that Dubas is overypaying by $11M at any term so what exactly is wrong about what I've said?

He's backed himself into a corner and now he's getting bent over even worse than he did in the Matthews deal.

It's so nice to have an ignore feature for these broken records who keep pushing certain narratives they can't get past.

In any other market Auston is the #1 C elite goal scoring player no team can let go or do without. We sign him with no hype/fan fare/holdout/media obsession to an AAV slightly above Tavares for a couple less years and keep him extremely content and happy and we bent over.

GTFOH.

Yeah Provorov was pretty mediocre last year.

Although if MM moves, I wouldn't want him anywhere staying in the East - would hate to have to face him back here multiple times per year.

Parayko would be a stretch, but if we had to add, that's something worth entertaining.

Aiming lower, Dumba in Minny would be nice too.

Dumba I like but would need a 1st or similar along with him.

Parayko I would add to Marner to get but not significantly, Marner is a f***ing good player just a headache right now

Sure. I've just read repeatedly references to what Dubas has said publicly, which is completely whatever to reality. If Dubas floats trading Marner publicly, then it will be the last card he plays to get him signed, otherwise it's all noise, of course he will say Marner being traded isn't an option right now.

For sure there will be,
he gets 75 points "but he got 40 PP points he is a PP specialist"
He scores 30 goals "he plays with Matthews though"

inevitable the crusade will continue

You work your entire life to have a career in hockey. If you're offered 77M you've achieved your life's goal AND it's on your favourite team where your family lives. How can you possibly hold out for 82M or something?

75M goes to Paul, 1 to Ferris, 1 to Drerer, and the remaining 5 to Mitch

@Babcocks Marner

Points per 60 (all situations) 2018-2019:
Matthews 3.471
Marner 3.470

Pts/game 2018-2019:
Marner 1.146 (15th in the NHL)

Points per 60 (all situations) 2017-2018:
Matthews 3.363
Marner 3.080

Pts/game 2017-2018:
Marner 0.841 (54th in the NHL)

Salary Cap: - Marner Contract Discussion - Winter is coming

2018-2019:
Marner TOI 19:49
Matthews TOI 18:33

My point is Matthews produces MORE and BETTER with LESS ice time than Mitch and with lesser linemates.

SO PLEASE stop lying to yourself.

Marner was nothing before Tavares.

Does anyone miss the 'cone of silence days' the Leafs use to employ?
I'm surprised how loose Dubas' lips are.

I'd say that in this market 7/77 is fair market value. Right at Tavares money....not quite Matthews due to not having the goal scoring presence or being a #1 C. If he needs to break the Matthews number for his ego then I dont see any choice but to shop him.

It's a huge over-payment. This just shows how effective Ferris has been this summer, even though all of his tactics are so transparent.

The best winger in the world starts a $9.5x8 contract this year, with only about 60% in signing bonuses. The hard cap on any Marner deal should have been $9.5x8 with more signing bonus.

I have a bias against players that sit themselves out for half a season over money and then suck for the other half...

Guilty as charged.

Paryako has to be the most overrated players on these boards. He doesnt have elite offensive tools. Scored 30ish points since coming to the league. He is a good defender but that does not make him worth anywhere near a franchise level winger in Marner. Nylander when he was a 61 point player was worth roughly Parayako. Marner is worth far far more and the only reason the blues dont trade him is as they have won a cup with him as part of their team.

Marner should be bringing back the cream of the crop young defenders.

Chabot, Werenski+, Provo+, Macavoy+, Seth Jones.

Guys like Dumba, Parayako , Slavin would all have a big add to them of marner were to be dealt. People dont realize how unique his ELC production is when compared to other stars league wide. If matthews is our best player and franchise guy for the next 5 years than MM is a close second. He should be dealt for a game changing defender not a solid top pairing guy.

A winger no where near the best in the world starts at 11.6 x 7 this year. A winger even farther down the list starts at 9x8.

If he's actually turned down 7/77 then I see no option but to move on. This is just stupid at this point.
I like Mitch great kid but at 11M AAV or Tavares money in TODAY'S AND LEAFS CAP world it is time to say to him don't let the door hit you on the way outta town. But I don't believe any of this horse sh*t. Dubie needs to let him sit the year or take someone else's 4 1st round picks. There will be no trade. Paul/agent buddy have a great ride/year in Swiss. The negotiations are over at 10.5M AAV. Safe travels to da boys today to St John's.

Technically we haven't heard a thing from anyone
Correct. Except for Ferris publically ripping on the Matthews contract the day it was signed. Matthews contract negotiation was totally silent.

Marner is better than JT. Considerably better moving forward. He is our 2nd best player (if Matthews stays healthy and finds chemistry with Nylander again). Just b/c AM is better than MM doesnt mean we gotta tear down Marner. Marner was trending towards being an elite player since 2018 when he placed for 90 points in a 40ish game sample with kadri and Marleau.
