At this point the player of the type of quality we want shouldn't worry about a Brandt, Sane or Gnabry. They'll be 30+ by the time of the next World Cup, and there's a reason guys like Wirtz and Musiala managed to jump ahead of them pretty quickly.

Wirtz & Musiala didn’t need to jump ahead of those players…plus Wirtz & Musiala…

There is also a wide gap between not-Wirtz/-Musiala and not being able to help our senior team.

Even if you exclude everyone older like Sane, Brandt, Füllkrug, Groß, Goretzka, etc. and all of the kids who aren’t as far along in their development like Darvich, Brunner, Bischof, Ouedraogo, etc.

Competing with Wirtz, Musiala, Havertz, Gruda, Beier, Undav, Führich, Adeyemi, Moukoko, etc. for playing time is going to be a lot tougher than competing with Baumgartner, Wimmer, Schmid, Cham, Grüll, Demir, Kameri, and Adamu.

Wanner could end up a really awesome player…who gets sold for 9 figures…and still not be guaranteed to start for us. Just because Gruda is every bit as gifted an option for that third creative spot and neither of them is better up front than Havertz / Beier / Undav / Moukoko / Burkardt.

Whereas for Austria he would be the Wirtz/Musiala, who the attacking movements are built around.

Wow, what a Musiala show. Wirtz wasn't bad either. Nice game to watch,
But please stop this "Major Tom" BS song. I hate NDW.

This team is so much fun under Nagelsmann.

With Musiala & Wirtz to anchor a front 4 alongside Havertz, Füllkrug, Beier, Undav, Führich, Sane, Brandt…plus maybe Gruda, Wanner, Adeyemi, Moukoko…our attacking play should be fun more often than not.

And the back 4 + double pivot are starting to clarify themselves. Kimmich back at RB has helped a lot…and though I think Chabot should get a look; with Nico, Rüdi, & Tah, we have three good CBs that each have chemistry together.

Which leaves LB as the most wide open between Mittelstadt, Raum, Gosens, Netz, Rothe, and Henrichs playing his offside.

Though the double pivot is still quite open as well; Andrich seems to have the destroyer spot locked up, while the passer spot could go to any of Groß, Pavlovic, Stiller, or Reitz.

We’re defending well so far, but we need to put some pressure on Leipzig or they’ll just exhaust us. This ref is letting a lot go for both teams.

If we could steal a goal heading into the cabin, this would be a nearly perfect 1st half on the road.

Geertruida is just bodying Hollerbach today. The kid will not stop fighting for the ball but the big Dutch defender is just throwing him around like a child.

Yeah Bensebaini has been good. Dortmund needs all the depth at defense they can get so it'd be a bit add if he can keep it up. Anton on the other hand I think has been a bit underwhelming.

Then and there
What is it with Boniface pulling down his shorts when celebrating a goal, don't remember seeing this last season?

Kiel isn't really a 1.BL level side, Kane with a hattrick, Olise with his first league goal too. Musiala is just ridiculously good.

First time seeing Fiete Arp in a long time, there is still some talent there to be a useful BL level player, even though he never fulfilled the early promise shown at HSV. I'm not sure what the problem is with him, he just seems unable/unlucky to score consistently at any level.

Also, it was interesting to see that Hoffenheim are trying to convert Anton Stach into a CB. He has the height for it, but based on this match, it doesn't really seem to be working out well.

Must be fun being a Schalke spporter (again).
Leading 3-0 at halftime and losing 3-5 in extra-time. Vs Darmstadt (winless to this g ame after getting relegated from bundesliga). At home, of course in front of 60,000.
Must have been the Kohfeldt factor. LOL.

At least it looks like they wouldn't have any hope of being promoted anyway. HSV will do this when they can clinch promotion with a win/tie.

Well, actually I wanted to mention, "kicker"(not Bild) is speculating Schalke could give their coach the boot after this disaster. But then I thought: No way, Wilmots is a calm sport director. They will analyse the game and then move on.

But guess what Schalke did?

They give BOTH the boot.

Hahaha

Then and there
Dusseldorf equalizes after Mertel had put Köln ahead, heading in following a corner situation, where ball bounced around before it came to him.

Then and there
Maina with a good forward run on the left flank, then a cut-in and controlled finish into the bottom right corner makes it 2-1 for Köln after an hour.

Köln couldn't hold on for the win, 95th last minute equalizer, maybe Urbig at fault for poor positioning/reaction, as the ball floated in from far away wide and he a clear view of the ball all the time.

Rothe scored his first and Jeong followed up not long after. Were defending extremely well again and the Khedira-Schäfer double pivot is doing work.

Ex-Union man beats Rönnow at the short post to make it 2-1
