All star(again)
Record for consecutive point games for leafs
Record for consecutive home point games for leafs
Only leaf to have 40 plus assists in each of his first 7 years
Only leaf to have 60 plus points in his first 7 years

And I have to read he is overpaid and we should trade him lol
Has there been a lot of previous leafs playing with two elite goal scorers? How many other NHL players have gotten to go back and forth between two elite goal scoring centers? Have to give these guys a lot of credit too. Two players tracked since their youth to be number 1 picks... Both in the primes of there careers. One already has two rocket trophys, a hart and ted Lindsay.

Most goals the past 7 seasons in the nhl:

Matthews #2
Tavares # 12

There are only 32 nhl teams!

Backstrom has played with an elite goal scorer his entire career and has similar stats, he's never been paid more than 11% of the cap. That would be 9 million for Marner. That makes sense!

Jeez Louise.... I could get 30 assists a year with Matthews and Tavares. Marner collects nearly 50% of those assists on the powerplay where he gets to play with both of those guys!

Should we talk about the bad streaks? Tell me how many elite players have hit these milestones:

Marner has 1 even strength goal in his past 24 games. An 11 million dollar player, playing with another 11 million dollar player and he has not scored a goal at even strength in 1\4 of the season games.

Until game 1 of last post season, he didn't score a goal in 18 consecutive post season games.

He didn't score a powerplay goal in over 100 games while playing with two other 11 million dollar players.

With Marner there are great streaks and very bad streaks....

No sure where to post this but anyone know which events Marner and Matthews are doing in the Skills comp?

Among Marner's 19 goals this season he has 11 goals at even strength and only 6 on the power play. So maybe you're exaggerating that fact and to be honest if he's scoring goals I don't care if they are at 5v5, on the power or shorthanded.

Yes we know marner is elite you don't need to break it down for us

You have never appreciated marner
You have been a critic of mitch since day one
All anyone has to do is look at your older posts
-7th highest paid player in the NHL
- 34th in points/60 in the league
- 3rd in league in secondary assists
- Plays with 11 million dollar elite goal scoring centers

...guess it depends on your definition of elite. If you want to call him elite, then I guess guys like Konecny, Hyman, Kuzmenko, Bratt, Tuch, Skinner, Krejci are too.

Add the fact he has average speed, he's weak, small and has no grit whatsoever...and has been average to poor in all playoffs but one.. and things get worse before looking better. It's actually scary to wonder what his stats would look like if he played on and teams without all the offensive support he has.

lol you're such a hater it's crazy. You disregarded so many things have even said he has one good playoff when he's been amed the best player in the playoffs on his team in specific years. This is an appreciation thread hater. Take your shit to another thread cause it stinks.

lol Marner has paced 90+ points the past 5 years. Complete joke to group him with these players.

In Marner's 3rd season when he was playing on his ELC he had 94 points in 82 games played. So are you going to give him credit for that, or did that only happen because he was with Tavares at 5v5 and also had Matthews on the #1 power play line.

Here is a sportsnet article from Berkshire from that 94 point campaign with Tavares.

Sportsnet.ca NHL author Andrew Berkshire joined Starting Lineup to explain why he doesn’t think Mitch Marner is worth Auston Matthews or John Tavares money.

Scoring chances games are a statistic that I look at when calculating a player’s impact offensively. It measures how involved a skater is in creating opportunities for their teammates.

“In forwards, Connor McDavid is number one; Sidney Crosby, second; Auston Matthews, third. At the 12th level, we find John Tavares tied with Sebastian Aho. Then William Nylander at 22e. And, finally, Marner is ranked 26th

A Tavares effect

Berkshire says it’s important not to overlook the “Tavares effect” when looking at the excellent offensive stats of Marner, who had 94 points last season.

“Marner is not the one leading the charge in his trio, it’s Tavares. You have to take into consideration the performances of the Tavares trio mates in the past. Look what happened with Matt Moulson. Anders Lee has seen a drop in [30%] in season-over-season goals scored when Tavares left Long Island. Tavares’ line-mates are having the best seasons of their careers with him, ”he noted

I'm sure you're going to say Auston Matthews was the reason for this, but please explain how last season Marner had 97 points in 72 games when he played with him at 5v5 and not Tavares.

Also, if you go back to Marner's final season in the OHL, he was the top player for London. There is a reason why he ended up winning OHL MVP, OHL playoff MVP, Memorial Cup MVP, and lead the Memorial Cup in scoring.

Perhaps it wasn't just only John Tavares why Marner got 94 points in 82 games with him in the 2018-19 season. He was a 4th overall pick and in any other draft without McDavid and Eichel, it's possible Marner gets selected 1st overall.

Your asking a lot of questions and not responding to what I post.. Your ok with Marner, the 7th highest paid player sitting at 34th in points/60? What's your thoughts on this?

Hes also 3rd in secondary assists. Obviously a goal or a primary assist is considered more valuable than a secondary assist. What's your thoughts?

Same for JT too, thinking about the time with this core. His contract is almost over, and both Matthews and Marner are both… not young anymore… if that makes sense.

In 5 years, they’ll be 30… I feel old but blessed to have watched them since 2016.
Fun fact. Matthews would be the second youngest forward on the Leafs active roster if he were playing right now. Only behind Joey Anderson, who is 9 months younger.

Ok maybe you don't appreciate what he does. No wonder he had a chip on his shoulder, if you think Taveras made Marner. My only question is why did JT want to play for the Leaf ? I will wait for your answer.

i appreciate Marner's skill like you do.

N wonder Marner had or has a chip on his shoulder. Because of idiots like this.

Rumor has it , that JT wanted to sign in Toronto to play Marner.

Mitch you don't have to prove yourself anymore. Keep doing what you are doing.

JT knows more than a knuckhead report.

I remember in Tavares introduction press conference after he signed on July 1, 2018, Dubas said one of the reasons he signed in Toronto was the players he would be playing with and I assume Marner's name was brought up.

Tavares and his wife are from Toronto...ive never read this rumor about Tavares specifically coming because of Marner.
