Tribute Marner Appreciation Thread

Man, sure seems like Marner made a great impression at the All-Star game, everyone loved him. Makes the lame detractors here look even more, well, lame.

I think ppl who actually met him in real life have found out the rumors and constant harassment towards him are lies. Unlike other players who haven't met him like that panthers player who said marner is his least favorite nhl
player.

I think its possible Matthews leaves and i accept that for this core. I dont think Marner ever wants to wear another jersey, wouldnt entertain it, that matters alot. Matthews would entertain it at the very least to get more money, Marners bleeds blue from my perspective. He deserves to wear the captaincy on this team and no one with any big picture perspective, would argue that.

U are more pissed Marner is 25 yrs old , 60 million in the bank and no mortgage. Im feeling great that the Leafs have a player on the squad with as high a hockey iq as anyone in the league , that competes.

People like him just fine. They just don't like his contract and some of complaining here and there. His lack of playoff prowess is also a bit concerning.

Like it or not this is the big year to make a mark for this group, if they can't at this point the experiment is done and it's going to break apart. That may mean some guys just giving up on it or some guys being traded out but it'll be the effective end if they don't hit the ECF at least.

Im mystified on why likeability has anything to do with this. Crosby is well liked, does that mean prime Marner= prime Crosby?

.. You mean they may point out that recent all star mvps Include John Scott and Brock Boeser? Praising a player for being a 3 star in an all star game is equivalent to saying players got a lot of respect in handshake line.

Some on here are comparing Marner to Gretzky and also saying Marner's stats are suffering because of poor play of Tavares and Matthews (Matthews stats are much better than Marners btw). Anyone want to explain how these statements aren't trolling?
