Marner wasn't the MVP of the All Star Game, it was Matthew Tkachuk.

The NHL only named him 3rd star for last week because of his 6 assists he got, since the Atlantic Division ended up winning it.

I didn't realize posting a comment Gretzky said about Marner was actually comparing them as players, when he said Matthews and Marner reminded him of when he played with Mark Messier.



The reality is no one on here actually compared Marner to Gretzky.

There has been multiple times where Marner has been used in the same sentence as gretzky in this thread and not just this improperly referenced quote (the link is a quote used as click bait, the actual quote in full is more a comparison of Gretzky/Messier Mstthew/Marner in terms of physical makeup as I proved last time you referenced it).

Jeez...thats my point. He wasn't even the MVP, just a three star of the event. An event where recent MVPs have been the likes of John Scott and Boeser. Did anyone even watch this pathetic showing? Read the main board, nobody was even trying.

My question is why is it so important that Marner was listed as a three star from this event? Is this more important than being 35th in points/60 in the league? And more important than his poor playoff showings?

Maybe you should send a tweet to the NHL Public Relations Twitter account and ask them why Marner was named 3rd star of the week.

So now your changing the subject? Why not answer the question? Why do you think it's important that he was names third star or that his linemate said it was great to play with Marner. Why are these things so important to you? How does it help the leafs win the cup?

Myself and anyone else on here does not know why Marner was named 3rd star of the week. That's why I said If you honestly want to know the reason for that is tweeting @ the NHL Public Relations Twitter account because they were the ones who announced last weeks three stars. So, I was not changing the subject.

The fact you have a problem with Marner being named 3rd star of the week just because of what he did at the All Star Game is only making yourself look a lot worse at how much you seem to hate him.

What's the purpose of this post? Bait? Notice that no one made a negative comment about Marners getting third star. Yet someone who apparently wants this thread to focus on appreciation makes this unprovoked statement. Whose the really troll?

Note that during Marners little hot streak these type of bait comments were common. Is "trolling" a one way street?

If Marner had won MVP I guess he would have been 1st star instead of 3rd star, since that happened for Matthew Tkachuk.

Next year when the All Star Game is played in Toronto and assuming Marner is selected to play in it, he could win MVP next year and it will make him 1st star for the week after that.

"Deserved" doesn't enter into the equation.

1st - guy from wining team with most goals
2nd - guy with most goals overall if he's on the losing team, otherwise guy with most points
3rd - guy with next most points.

The show is about scoring, scoring, and selling merchandise. Look at how decent the play was (4 goals in the first 14 minutes) before orders came down from Bettman to stop playing defence (6 goals in the final 73 seconds? disgusting!)

One of the stars should have been our goalie who had a shutout in the first half of the final game
