Most NCAA players seem willing to cut their college career short if they have a realistic shot at the NHL. The timeline is not necessarily five years for this player

If they're good enough to earn a NHL paycheck, there aren't many/if any college grads starting at $800k out of school in many careers.

Just out of curiosity, how does that affect his contract negotiations with the Leafs, is he still an UFA after 4 years of university or does this next season count as one of those years?
The Leafs hold his rights until June 1, 2024. Whether that gets extended upon entering college I don't know.

Did Amirov play today or did he just accompany the team?

I cant find ice time reports anywhere for the game

Bit of a long shot here. But anyone have or know of a way to get Marlies tickets for Wednesday October 25th?
I’ve been searching online and can’t seem to find anything. My cousin will most likely be playing for the Crunch and would love to see him play while I’m in the area.

Not sure they are on sale yet.

Once they go on sale I don't imagine you'll have trouble getting tickets. I don't believe the Marlies sell out.

If Sandin signs with the SHL, he will not be eligible to play for the Leafs (or anyone else he signs with) later on unless he clears waivers.

So he may as well go looking for offer sheets.

Would be a bad move for him. Might as well just play in the AHL again. He's an NHL player and a decent one. If he goes that route and doesn't want to be here for a big year for us, that's extremely selfish from a guy that has no reason to ask for more than Liljegren.

His whole offseason has been a bad move. A player in that position wants to get playing time and cement their status in the league. His posturing has left him in the cold over a relatively piddly sum over what he will make over his career, whilst asking questions about his place on the roster which can only be answered by his own play.

Now he's looking at a camp holdout with a backup option of going to Sweden where he can make a fraction of the salary he doesn't want to sign in the NHL. Even if he does get the contract he wants, if he struggles, I'm not sure he has the crowd on his side.

Like read the room, man.

How is he different than Puljujarvi who didn't need to do that after playing in Finland?

He played one full season over there without an NHL contract, but then he signed an NHL deal and was loaned back to Karpat during the Covid pod season.
