OHL just announced it won’t have body contact this season. Better trade someone to make room for Robertson on the Leafs because we don’t want him going back to the OHL now, that’s no way to prepare him for the NHL.
Can you imagine Robertson in the OHL going up against no body contact though. The skilled players are going to razzle dazzle and their creativity will be on full display knowing they're not going to get pummeled with their head caught down.

Are they going to watch it without body contact anyway? It feels like they have to get through this one season and hope for better luck next year because that's not an entertaining product either way.
probably not. There's honestly no point in getting rid of body checking. It's just doing something for the sake of looking like they take covid seriously. If they are so worried about covid being transmitted throughout the league, just cancel the season

You've never played adult league?

Throw a guy in the box for a 2 minute penalty for a body check.

It's not so much the body checking, it's the boards, puck battles and high traffic areas

It's the OHL not adult or beer league

Im assuming it's going to be like beer league, no body checking.

The rest will be allowed.

Beer league is pretty damn rough. I've seen more people lose teeth and way more fights in beer league then I did in my entire life playing hockey. Old men really do play hockey like it's the 70's by using their stick for everything which leads to a lot of fights and scrums haha.

And those are habits we want Robertson to avoid

I think SDA's game is more conducive to playing against men than one would think. He's not going to score many goals, but I like his approach to the game on and off the ice a lot more than Bracco's
It’s one of the strangest aspects about SDAs game. He’s looked better in rookie tournaments and training camps against much older pro players than he does in junior. He seems to elevate his game the harder it gets. I would think based on his size/stature/play style that the opposite would be true, but he has impressive compete and drive.

I'm off to utube to see if I can find some beer league footage

I always said to myself I felt he got held back in Junior because his hockey IQ is just much better than most and he thinks the game different and at a different level. You'd see during our pre season games he didn't look out of place.

Villeneuve got his 1st goal of the season today. Tied the game at 4 before the opposition won in OT

Agreed. I'm lucky to have found a mellow beer league, but the one time I played as a sub in the ASHL, it was a goon fest. I was shocked to see scrums forming every few minutes and to hear people screaming threats from the bench. Unfortunately, lots of dullards in those leagues.

My first experience in a beer league I got a two hander across both wrists on my first shift. I was literally like "wtf, is this guy serious?" He got a penalty so I didn't retaliate but it opened my eyes to how chippy the game was and I got my revenge on that guy a little later with an undetected little cup check

Getting Hirvonen AND Niemela in the second round/third round was fantastic work.

Kind of a related question. Does anyone know if the Liga website shows the advanced numbers for every indovidual game? I can only seem to find stats for the overall season.

That is high praise. Rindell already looks to be climbing.
The good news Kokkonen's CF% is now over 50 which is the highest on the team. Rindell is 3rd best.
I mentioned I'm worried about Kokkonen's consistently low underlying numbers, but again I can't judge him fully until I see him on a better team. Jukurit is absolutely awful.
