The knowledge that the posters have about our prospects on here is crazy. SeaOfblue might know more about the prospects and minor leagues then Dubas.
With no disrespect to SeaofBlue ( who is extremely knowledgeable about our prospects), I find that very unlikely. Perhaps only due to the fact that Dubas has an network at his disposal.

I hope that I do not know more than Dubas. If so, he can hire me ;)

I just keep track of things outside of the NHL and go to resources I trust to accurately reflect prospects. Nothing too fancy TBH.

His CF% was 61 in the game. It's very early, but that was a fantastic trade down by Dubas looking at the quality we got.

Niemela could have gone a full round earlier and it would not have been a reach.

How he is not playing in the Liiga right now is beyond me. Karpat does not have that many great defenders and far inferior guys like Kasper Puutio have received games over him.

His contract with Karpat expires after this year... If the Leafs do not feel like Karpat is the best place for him, I would not be surprised if they decide to give him a job on the Marlies earlier than expected. Rasanen is the only RHD who may need a spot with the Marlies out of our prospect pool next year, and that is still TBD based on whether his rights expire, what his role in the Liiga might be if he does stay there, and how ready he may be to step into the AHL. Kral may be a LH RD who also may need a spot.

Duszak and Hollowell are penciled in right now, but I would not be surprised to see one of them moved similarly to Lindgren. Duszak may also get non-tendered if his defense does not improve and his offense does not translate enough to make up for it. He is not exactly young as a 97' so he should be looking to get top 4 role in the AHL at some point this year if he wants a legit shot at the NHL.

Niemela getting fast tracked to the AHL would be interesting, but not sure if it's the right approach. I personally think they are higher on Hollowell then Duszak, despite Duszak showing a bit more in the AHL. They even named Hollowell to the camp 2.0 roster for a brief time. That should tell you a lot.

the KHL is one of the worst leagues for development, but he did just play 17 minutes in the last game. The main thing is he's playing at all right now

Why is this such a consistent thing where they'll play like 20 mins and then the next game they'll play like 5 mins or not even be in the lineup?

I apologize, that was meant tongue and cheek, I do realize Dubas is extremely knowledgeable. I never meant it as a slight towards Dubas, I meant as a acknowledgement of the abundance of info found in this thread.

Who/ what is a doobler?
A very very dim take on Dubas' name.

I think that most players who are going to be battling for a job in training camp (other than Lehtonen) are not playing.

Looks like you only want to associate anything negative with Dubas.

Prove otherwise.

Please tell me who is the decision maker most responsible for having these two prospects not playing a single game of hockey at any level for 11 consecutive months? I will gladly lay the blame at that person’s door.

YOU DO realize that any players who missed the playoffs are in the same situation. Example jack Eichel stopped when the league stopped and neve4 got into the playoffs so he will be off for almost a year. Many many players in that same situation so not a slight on dubas.

Eichel is guaranteed an NHL roster spot. Sandin and Liljegren are likely starting in the minors, judging by the Leafs trades this offseason. Why wait until February only to play them in the AHL if similar level leagues have been running since September?

Hollowell is ropey defensively still, although I think he's improving and he's definitely worth preserving with for another season or two

Duszak is an absolute train wreck defensively, I wouldn't be surprised if we cut bait after this season if he doesn't substantially improve

If we want to bring Niemela over we can make room for him pretty easily, there's a few guys we need to make decisions on in the next season or two

The kinds of prospects who have been lent overseas tend to be those who haven’t played an nhl game yet. E.g. nils lundqvist, kravtsov. Sandin and liljegren have played more than 10 nhl games and they’re at the point where they have to play top level competition, which is not the shl/liiga/khl. They have nothing to learn in those leagues as the competition is slower or dumber. Teams are very selective in who they send overseas and choose only players who can benefit. This is why leafs only sent kral, sda, and rubins. I would consider ahl to be a higher quality league than shl/liiga and while the ahl level of competition is similar to khl, I have seen khl games and they are disorganized and very political. Sandin and lilegren in these leagues may develop bad habits and hinder their development from playing in these leagues.
