Korshkov's production seems like it has fallen off pretty far in the 2nd half so far, anyone been watching games?

Still hoping he can become something for us

He is still tied for second on his team in both points and goals. It seems like their entire team has struggled to score recently.

They also just brought in Teemu Pulkkinen who is likely eating into his offensive minutes a lot. Korshkov is a two-way player so any time a purely offensive player comes in, guys like him usually lose some offensive opportunities.

IIRC he had a bunch of lucky bounces and EN points. Even with his very strong production I cant see him as more than a decent 3rd liner in the NHL.

Going to put this in 3 places

Tavares was asked on Tim and Sid today about who stuck out the most to him in camp, and he said Liljegren. He was talking to a few teammates about him.
He had a ton of praise for him. Talked about his maturity and gowth not just this camp but also the previous season, and that he may not jump off the page at what he does, but his assertiveness and the strides he took last season.

He looked solid indeed.

AHL player of the year, barring major injury with the Leafs... then maybe force their hand the year after.

I agree. He should dominate again this season. The fact he is 9th/10th on the depth chart is a good thing. Not a fan of Bogosian but if used properly, it's fine.

We need that physicality...with the cap flat... we had no choice. So, it's the best we could do for the bucks, without trading a major piece.

He looked great. The fact that Liljegren is up to 198lbs and somehow looks quicker is a great sign. Noticed right away that he's more effective at using his body to cut-off/kill cycles. I think he'd immediately have some of the most D-zone breakups/60 if he made the roster. Everything else is as advertised, especially that stretch pass. He looks ready if not for the logjam.

As for Korshkov, I wouldn't call his goals "lucky" because that's how he makes his money. He's a net front pigeon who thrives off of garbage cleanup. Even though he's had like 1 point in his last 5, and a noticeable drop in production over the last 15-20GP, his NHLe and play style make me confident he can be a 15-15 guy in the NHL, if given 3rd line minutes. What will hold him back is not what most people talk about (i.e. skating), but his defensive play. He can't PK effectively and misses a lot of assignments defensively. That's probably the reason he hasn't been used in a Moore/Timashov/Engvall role just yet.

korshkov is super intriguing as a PP guy because he is really good net front, but he also has the ability to make really good passes. even if he ends up as a 3/4 line ES player, he could still be a good 2PP guy.

I thought he faired really well in the scrimmage. I remember thinking it was such a shame that there was not room for him or Sandin. but then quickly remembering that was a sign of depth. which is good. But i really agree with JT, this guy will have an NHL career, a good one at that

No points again for Amirov in a 6-3 win, 0 points in 3 games since returning I believe. I doubt he's getting much ice time though. He's had 4 shots on goal for 2 games in a row now.

He will be fine. He is young and won't get as much time in that league.

Uconn dominated unh despite the score so tverberg looked very favorable today.

1st period:
Tverberg drew a penalty right when i started watching. He was a dog on that puck. Good skater. I think he plays 70% as a f1 or 30%as a f2. He’s not on the pp or pk.

2nd period
He drew another penalty. Too many penalties in this game so toyberg hasn’t played much. He got sprung on a breakaway, but the two defenders caught up to him and then he throws a pretty big hit. His line is generating good outcomes. They don’t spend a lot of time in the d zone and they generate breakaways and high danger scoring chances. He made two good passes as well.

3rd
Not much happened. He was waiting to receive a pass but the d didn’t have enough mustard on the pass, which led to a shot from the slot.
