We could.. we'd just suck defensively and be stuck in our zone. LOL

Looking back at our drafts... with full hindsight, the only real time in recent years, where there was opportunity to pick bigger, more rounded guys, was the 2020 draft, with really just Guhle and Schneider as the options. Maybe this past draft there were some guys, if we kept our 1st round pick... but really, there hasn't been a lot of opportunity for us in recent years, even though I completely agree with you.

2017 and 2016 drafts we picked a bunch of defensive fridges, and they all busted on us... not a reason for not picking them going forward of course.

Even if you look at 2017, and Rasanen as our second pick... there isn't a singular D picked after him at the 59th pick, that you'd say.. oh, we should have picked him instead.

2016 Korshkov was just a bad pick... guys picked just after him include Andrew Peeke (would have been great to have), of course DeBrincat, Kyrou...

2018 Sandin and Durzi were good picks for their positions.

2019 we picked Robertson... he's outperformed his draft spot, and you can't really say.. hey we should have drafted X instead.

I agree with all of this, I was pumping the Schneider pick hard. I think the only thing that would have made it interesting is Lundell or Askarov.

Korshkov boggled my mind.

When we took Durzi, I was pushing for Morzov a bit more but Durzi hasn't been bad.

I'd wait to see how Amirov turns out, I think he may be better than all players mentioned.

It's tough to miss out on the time he has but I am rooting for him.

All of the other players mentioned look very promising.

Joey puts the Marlies up 1-0.

He should get a chance with the Leafs at some point, especially if ZAR/NAK can't figure things out.

He plays such a simple but effective game.

labrie spent more time trying to get douglas to drop his helmet than he did fighting him

Smart move by Douglas because it is a 2 minute penalty to take off your helmet. Just got the Marlies a PP, even though he got a Game Misconduct.

Game misconduct for fighting?

Knies has done basically nothing this season and in the WJC. Call it a sophomore slump, but it's a bit concerning. Not a troll, just want Gophers to succeed at the next level.

4 goals, 6 points in 6 games is nothing?
I watch every minute of every Gopher game. He has not been the same as last season, let alone taken a step. Just expressing concern. Also some of those points might have come against Lindenwood. Points are not everything.

Not a good night for the Gophers tonight though. 6-2 Ohio State, Cooley/Snug/Knies on the ice for the last goal. No points for their line tonight.

Knies had a decent game and two points (goal and assist) the last game they played. But he’s not playing in a dominant fashion.

Cooley is such a puck hog though, it doesn’t help their line.

Tell me about the games that you’ve watched.

He's with Cooley?

All I've heard is that isn't a line he should be on, and Cooley doesn't like to use his linemates.

Many here dreaded that he would be with him.

In the WJC Knies might as well as been on the bench with Cooley.

He was INCREDIBLE last year for a freshman. That's why what we're seeing this year has been a bit concerning. Because he established high expectations at this level.

Yup he's been with Cooley but the experiment is not working and I expect him back with Huglen and Pitlick or Lamb tomorrow.

Tonight it’s Snuggerud/Cooley/Knies. Ya.

I’ve seen a number of plays where Cooley tries to do too much, gets rubbed out against the board, takes a low percentage shot.

Knies just made a nice play, going to the net, and for some reason passed it back. He had a lane to the net, should have taken it.

6-3 now.

Knies, Cooley -2 tonight and the line kind of owns that.

Knies has been doing the same in WJC and NCAA. Trying to do a bit too much. Cooley maybe wearing off.

6-4 loss for Gophers. I disagree that Knies has done nothing, but I would agree that he hasn’t been as dominant as last year. He needs to be on a different line than Cooley though, and he needs to work harder.
