Ok first period for Marlies. Liljegren, Benn and Rifai look good on the D. Holmberg Steeves Gaudette play well together and had some tremendous chances. Gaudette really trying to earn his way back to NHL. Had a great chance he should have finished.

0-0

Douglas looked pretty good last year, but I haven’t seen the same promise so far this year.

SDA has really improved his game. He’s actually fairly physical and responsible now. I doubt he’s ever a NHL player, but he has improved quite a bit.

Second period more of the same really. Rifai playing well, but took two penalties, and Syracuse scored on the second. Marlies outplaying Syracuse, but no goals.

Petruzelli looks pretty good too.

Someone on the Marlies needs to score.

Gaudette with a great shot on the PP to tie the game up.

And then great play by Lilly, taking the puck around the ice like he’s Nylander, and sets up DeKeyser who rivals in the goal. 2-1 Marlies.

2-2 Syracuse score on a 2 on 1

Gaudette and Holmberg dominating play. Gaudette gets in a fight too.

Lilly with a beauty open ice hit dropped a guy pretty good.

Hoeffemayer has a bullet of a point shot. SDA with a rebound in front of the net makes it 3-2.

Anderson with a great read on the PK, intercepts a pass, uses his speed to get a breakaway and scores. 4-2.

Syracuse pull their goalie and get it to 4-3.

Gaudette steals the puck with the goalie out, gets a breakaway, and then does a drop pass to Anderson who accepts the gift and its 5-3. Impressed by Gaudettes play tonight.

So Marlies win 5-3. Gaudette best forward, though Holmberg has a great game too. Anderson with the two goals, but a quiet game otherwise. Lilly looked solid, Benn ok, and Rifai had a good game, but needs to reduce needless penalties.

He didn't have a great showing in training camp/preseason but I still think this kid has some real potential if he can put it together. He's got the size and athleticism

Yes, I think cautiously optimistic is the best way to describe it. I love the upside of the player. From all the years I have watched the game and played the game the one thing I've realized is you cannot teach vision and IQ. People either have it or they don't. Ty seems to have it, which is great.

Typically if you're smart enough to see the game the way guys like Ty do, you will also be smart enough to adapt your game to allow you to succeed at the next level. Similar to Abruzzese. Highly intelligent player, but he will need some time to figure out what he can and cannot do at the pro level. I anticipate that same learning curve for Ty going forward.

We all know what skill with no adaptability looks like...

circled is a very similar pts. production over 17 more games in what I believe was his D+2 season as well.

I am optimistic with Ty, no doubt. He really cannot do much more to impress then what he is currently doing. Absolutely reason to celebrate, but we have to remain grounded in what to expect IMO
What happened to Bracco after that 79 point AHL season. I remember being excited after that season. Not crazy for fans to think he had NHL potential.

Leafs are going to be glad to have Liljegren back. He's way too good for that league

He has a sly physical element we could use on the backend as well, he's starting to time that hit he gives guys when they carry the pick around our blue line

He sits guys on there ass more often than not since his time in the NHL

His timing is getting way better on that stuff. If he can do the same with driving guys into the corner and taking them out of the play as we did with the Marlies he'll be scary good.
