holy lord these sites look fascinating.. jesus i would lose hours / days on this stuff...

I use it for periods at a time. Helps me find underrated guys, and it is fairly reliable for those leagues. Sucks it isn't great for Europeans but Europeans are easier to figure out with basic stats anyways.

Every prospect has holes in their game. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t be in the AHL.
Some prospects have more holes than others. Knies is close to a complete player which is why he stepped into the NHL seamlessly.

I do not see how these are different things.

Knies does have fewer holes, which is why he is in the NHL. He is also a very rare case, especially for where he was taken.

Those guys are turning 21 in 2023. Other than Ovchinnikov, they've all looked promising either in the AHL or their respective leagues. They have at least 2 more years before you start realistically expecting them to challenge for an NHL job.

Meanwhile, the ones who are 23/24 (Steeves, Abruzzese, Kral, Holmberg, etc.) can realistically challenge for some kind of NHL role next year. Maybe it is as nothing more than a primary call-up than turns into more, but pretty much all of them look like they are ready for that step.

Knies biggest issue (and maybe only issue i see) is that he is physically weak, he has decent size, but no strength.
even watching him in the frozen 4, he was pushed around by smaller d-men, he needs to gain both strength on his skates, and in his body, and then he will be a force to be reconned with, until then, he's a big bodied finesse player,

a 6'2" 210 lbs weakling?

Two names not getting much love in here recently are Moldenhauer and Grebyonkin.

Grebyonkin just had an excellent KHL season and Moldenhauer is joining powerhouse U of Michigan this coming season. Should be quite exciting following both.

It's very early but it looks like we did very well with the 2022 3rd/4th/5th round picks.

I imagine all 3 would be drafted higher in a re- draft and especially GREB.

Moldenhauer slowed down in the second half.

Plus he is not a very dynamic player who mostly just projects as a solid two-way winger on a 3rd line (or maybe can do enough to play at center if things go well). Solid but unspectacular doesn't get many people excited... Even though he is a similar caliber and upside prospect to Minten.

It will be interesting to see how Treliving values some of the older guys in the system and how the new pecking order shapes up. Pre change up I would have bet on Abruzesse "surprising" and being in the top 9 by American thanksgiving. Now... would be interesting to know how the Flames viewed the pool externally.

QMJHL | Serge Beausoleil appointed GM in Gatineau, Stéphane Julien leaves the Phoenix | Wire News

For its part, the Sherbrooke Phoenix is under reconstruction. General manager and head coach of the team Stéphane Julien, as well as assistant manager Olivier Picard, are leaving the Sherbrooke team. Julien heads to the American Hockey League (AHL), while Picard becomes GM of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

The Phoenix did not specify Julien’s destination in the AHL, and the latter will not grant an interview until his appointment is confirmed. Rumors suggest he will join the Grand Rapids Griffins, in a role yet to be determined.

While Dubas had issues with roster construction, he really did a great job drafting. Hoping we end up benefiting from this in the next few years.

With the Leafs budget, there is no excuse to not be a good drafting team. Lo

I hope so too, but a lot of calgary’s picks after 2016 seem to be in the echl or not playing an important role for the flames organization.

Leafs have a large budget, but if it is not used properly, they will still make bad picks. Look at nyr. When panarin got wrecked by tom wilson, nyr started to focus on more physical prospects.

Valmaki playing for Arizona

Adam Ruzicka LW 6' 4" 220lbs
2017 109 OA pick
NHL last yr 44 gp 20 pts

Dustin Wolf
he should be in the NHL this year, if you think Woll's numbers were great this year , he has been doing it since he was drafted.

Pelletier
98 pts 99 gp in the AHL
NHL 24gp 7 pts
NHL ready this yr

Coronato
Harvard 72 pts 68 gp
Possibly NHL debut this yr

Zary
58 pts 69 gp

Poirier D
41 pts 66 gp

I only named there top 7 prospects

If Treliving has draft picks he will find us a variety of player

Perhaps he doesn't have his man strength yet. Not everyone gets that by age 20, especially if still growing.

Certainly, hope that is the case, and it is unlike Holl who had good size but seemed to lack strength.

With the Leafs Cap situation, I think they have to audition the heck out of their prospects and they need a master puzzle handler to derive successful lines which includes some. They can't just default to scrap heap NHL hangers on.

Their prospect pool, alas, does not look great, but we should still hold out hope that Niemela might be a surprise. Seems to have put up some points in the playoffs, and I had heard some positive comments about him impressing.

So is this accurate at all?
Has his size increased to 6', 190 lbs.
Why wasn't he in the playoffs line-up?

10. Ryan Tverberg, RW – Toronto Marlies (AHL)

Age: 21
Ht/Wt: 6-0/190
Drafted: 2020 round seven 213th overall by Toronto Maple Leafs

Another prospect on the rise is Toronto native Ryan Tverberg. After three NCAA seasons at the University of Connecticut, the Leafs have signed him to his ELC and he will play out the season in the AHL with the Marlies. Through the first six games he is still looking for his first point, his game is more about the physical play than the offensive production.

Tverberg is a heat-seeking missile, throwing his body at the opposition without the puck, and freight-training it toward the goal when he does have the puck. The 21-year-old will play a full season with the Marlies next year and could eventually play his way into a bottom-six NHL energy player.
