If Knies signs after the weekend and plays one game, he's burned year one of his ELC and would only have 2 left.

It's the same situation next year should he sign after the College season next season - it would burn year one and he'd have 2 ELC years left. It just means if he signs this season he can become arbitration eligible one season quicker.

So I guess there are some things to consider for both the Leafs and Knies.....

Douglas vs Marchment

Does Douglas skate the same as marchment ( when Marchment was with the Marlies ?

Then again if he wishes to turn pro and we don't sign him , he could after next season wish to sign with someone else as Ufa.
He may be just what we need this yr.

According to Cap Friendly, the Leafs hold his rights until August 15, 2025. So he's in for a long wait if he wants to go UFA.

If he signs this season, he gets arbitration rights one year sooner, but that is the only possible benefit for him.

I would love to see him in the lineup.

I may have to brush up on this one, but I believe burning the one year does not move up arbitration eligibility. Free agency and arbitration eligibility (and expansion protection) are tied to the first 10 games still, it's just that non-CHL players don't get the benefit (punishment?) of the slide, so his ELC is burnt faster.

I didn't type it out quite correctly. lol

My understanding is that by playing one game this season, it would count as a professional season and burn a year off of his ELC, and if he plays 10 games, it would count as a full professional season towards arb eligibility - so he would only need 3 more to be arbitration eligible.

If he signs in the summer or after next season, he would still need 3 more seasons to reach arbitration. So it would be one year earlier to arbitration only if he signs this season and plays 10 games.

Ok didn't know.
Thanks

Both Karpat and IFK lose in game 7 so Niemela's and Hirvonen's season is done. Might join the Marlies now all though none of them played in game 7. Hirvonen has been dealing with an injury

Marlies final 11 game stretch starts today. They are in a playoff spot by 2 points all though Sens have a game in hand.

Marlies remaining opponents
Syracuse(2)
A team Marlies are battling with in the division for not only a playoff spot but getting a bye into the divisional semi's.

Grand Rapids(2)
Griffins are still in the hunt for the playoffs. Outside looking in but really close

Hartford(1)
Currently in a playoff spot but battling to stay there

Laval(3)
Divisional matchup and these are huge to determine where Marlies can finish.

Belleville(3)
These are the big ones. Sens are just on the outside looking in.

Simple, if Marlies can win enough of their divisional games, they can get as a high as 2nd in their division but miss all together. They control their fate.

I don't care if Marlies are dealing with injuries to goalies. If they don't get in with this roster and expanded playoff, Moore should be sent out the door.

Moore should probably be sent out the door either way... but great post.

Oh for sure and should have happened already, but if he gets them in, they won't. The lineup he sent out last game was a fireable offense. He had options and still sent out an embarassing lineup

At this point, the best players should be playing every day. No more rotations. No more evaluation. We have one 3 in 4 at the end of the year and two other back to backs. Nobody should need rest.

Suomela - Seney - Anderson
Robertson - Blandisi - Ho-Sang
McMann - Abramov - Steeves
Clune - Douglas - Kopacka

Dahlstrom - Myers
Rubins - Duszak
Kral - Hollowell

Petruzzelli - Hutchinson

That is your lineup.

If there are injuries/illnesses, we have Gogolev, Ovchinnikov and hopefully Michaelis ready in the wings for top 9 roles (plus SDA when he comes back); Michaelis, Clifford, Slaggert, and maybe Walker can handle 4th line depth duties. Hopefully Kokkonen can come over and factor into the Marlies defense again, but if not, then Krys is your main depth guy. Maybe give Joyaux/Rifai/Miller/Finkelstein a chance. Pretty much avoid Kivihalme at all costs. I would rather use Hellickson if I absolutely needed to.

Just hope for the best when it comes to goaltending.

No he couldn’t. Only way you become a college UFA is if you finish your degree in 4 years/play 4 years of college. So he’d become a UFA at the end of August 3 years from now (2025)

Abramov with a nice goal in OT, feed from Ho-Sang. Robertson, Douglas and Steeves with the other goals.
Good win after falling behind 2-0. Hutch was Hutch. Big saves and soft goals as well. Kind of wish he was a better goalie because he's such a good guy.
