Not a rebuilding year, they're absolutely STACKED next year, especially if a bunch of their guys don't go pro.
Cooley and Snuggerud are big adds for Minnesota next year.

Their captain and best player Ben Meyers is going pro. It seems 3 of their top 4 D will be going pro as well (Faber, Johnson, Lacombe - this is great news for Koster as he will likely be on the top pair).

They are adding some really solid young players but as we just saw with Denver and Minnesota, the NCAA is built on veterans. U. of Minnesota likely doesn't see AS strong of a season next year. That's not to say Knies cant benefit from increased opportunity there and another year of college hockey. Selfishly I want him to come now though.

This was my point. Losing 3 of the top-4 D that didn't win will make it all that much harder IMO no matter how much new young talent you are bring in. It will be more of a reload and transition year to set up future runs IMO.

The defense will take a hit, but they're getting the best American defenseman next year and two of the best American forwards. They'll still be elite.

Could have won this year too. Lets not forget their starting goalie left only a month or two ago because a NHL opportunity with Carolina was available.

Hopefully Knies signs with the Leafs. Would be great to see him in the lineup. I think he’d look great next to Tavares.

Is it expected that Amirovs career is finished? I'm out of the loop

He's skating and training as we speak, so no. He's still going through treatments, so it might take a good year before he joins the team in some capacity, assuming of course he beats it.

i think i speak for most people when i say i'm surprised he got a deal.

looks like he'll be on a PTO for the rest of the season, so hopefully we get a good look at him in the remainder of the marlies games.

Do you have a read on Ellis?

You're penciling him into the AHL not E?

If we only saw him as an ECHLer, we wouldn't have signed him to an ELC. He is 100% playing in the AHL next year.

Rindell on the other hand... Not as sure. There are fewer spots available for defensemen than there are for forwards, and he is also a much worse prospect than Ellis.
