Quickly turning into my favourite prospect.
Adding players like he, Robertson, Hirvonen etc, that play with the kind of energy and drive the way they do is going to be a welcome addition to the Leafs forward group in a couple of years. Plus the offensive skills to boot. We could have 4 lines that have skill and varying other tools.

There was a f*** up in the Marlies boxscore from yesterday. Mac Hollowell ended the game fighting Pekar. They were both ejected from the game. But, there is no sign of the event, not even roughing minors in the boxscore.

I would have liked to have grabbed video of it and brought it here, Hollowell tap danced him. But, hockeyfights.com only adds events from fighting majors.

In the post all-star presser, Dubas talked about potential reinforcements from the Marlies AHL crowd. Not just Ho-Sang, but maybe Douglas, Blandisi, Suomela, all of whom seem to have been playing well.

Douglas would be very fun to see if he could carve himself out a role. Not sure if his skating is ready for it yet but he would certainly command some space out there lol

I'm a big fan of Douglas being part of the team in the future.... but, you are right, his skating probably still needs some work. That's an offseason thing, let's really work on his skating, and then if we can improve on that, we could have a pretty important fourth line C down the road.

Re: Douglas, he doesn't have the meteoric late-blooming rise that made Marchment exciting, but on the other hand he's much farther along at the same age. Could easily see an ELC by christmas if he keeps improving

Dubas was asked about Amirov's health/injury issues this year

"Yeah, I think we'll have something on that coming up here relatively soon."

The good thing for him is he seems to be buying into what his role will need to be to make it to the NHL, taking his physicality, toughness and grinding style up a notch.

Compare that to a another big guy we signed to an AHL deal in Brazeau, who while far more talented offensively he stayed that one dimensional scorer at the pro level.

Long way to go obviously but some good strides this season.

He also produced similarly to the Goat in the CHL, and is straight up more productive than he was at this age. Doesn't have the 1st round or hockey Canada pedigree granting premature NHL looks and expectations, but if he gets the defensive side down and can match the skating effectiveness and bigger, angrier Goat is an everyday 4th liner

I had thought that there was some discussion on Amirov, and potential health concerns, but I can't seem to find it... or something... Anyway, here is the relevant bits. If somehow, this posting is offside, please Mods message me and let me know why. Thanks.

Nice to see Robby get on the board a couple times on Saturday. Even if one of the goals was an empty netter. That first goal was just a vintage Robertson snipe. He has such a great arsenal of releases. He just freezes goalies with that subtle but very effective stutter before he releases the puck. It's almost the equivalent of a pitcher in baseball changing up the tempo of their windup. It may not seem like much, but if it can drop that goalies shoulders an inch or 2 before he actually lets off the shot, it give his that extra space to elevate that puck over them. Which is exactly what we saw on Saturday. He's just so good at that move.

I wasn't able to catch the game, but I was able to catch his first game back against Grand Rapids. I thought he looked a bit behind in that game. Completely understandable given how much he has missed and the severity of the injury he sustained. He was routinely the first of his linemates to change and overall just looked a bit tired. Again, this was exactly what I expected and I don't blame him 1 bit for that. Just curious how he looked on Saturday? did he have a bit more jump?Looks like he doubled his shot total from the game before.

This just doesn't sound good at all. My hope is it is not COVID related (ie. Myocarditis). Just seems like it is far more complicated than just a simple shoulder injury.

Fingers crossed, but it does not sound good at all

If I were to speculate, I think it might be something like Long Covid symptoms....

Or it could just be the shoulder (and recovery) and Dubas just doesn't want to throw Ufa under the bus for lack of playtime when healthy.

Obviously I hope it's nothing bad, but really he wasn't really playing when healthy; "wasn't a spot for him in the lineup", and we just haven't heard much since. I'm looking forward to hearing something as you never want a top-prospect's D2 season to get blown up to this proportion. It's such a valuable year and we're just seeing nothing from a guy I hoped would be a full-time NHLer next season.

Someone mentioned he was avoiding contact like crazy in his return to the line up...so speculating a little bit more on my part but rushed come back or didn't heal right?

Heard some horror stories about doctors over in Russia.

Knowing a few people who the "cure" hasn't worked with and has caused myocarditis, specifically my own sister but now hearing the TFC player and a few other prominent sporting athletes, I would say this is probably the case. Of course a 20 year old shouldn't be developing myocarditis but better that 1% develop life long health problems than for the risk that big Pharma doesn't make their billions

It's more than just myocarditis. I have long covid, but not myocarditis. I have extended fatigue, lack of energy, lower strength and often get headaches and foggy brain feeling. It's been a month an a half after I go over Covid, and I'm getting better slowly... found working out hard actually helped.
