odd place to sign as a goalie. Don't think Toronto is a great fit either, but Florida is worse.
I agree completely. I am sure he saw what Petruzelli has been doing and wanted nothing to do with our organization. We just have a complete log jam of mediocrity in the goaltending department, but it still poses as a very large road block for prospective tendy's.

FLA is troubling for sure. Bob and Knight are the top dogs, and likely for a while. So you are essentially committing to the ECHL/AHL for the next 3-4 seasons likely in that organization. Not exactly career suicide for a goalie, just an odd decision.

I'm saying Ohtamaa is on Finland Olympic team, so Niemela is playing on his teams top pairing instead of second pairing today and for next couple weeks as well. His team is without top scorer and top defenceman(captain) so they are struggling a bit, great opportunity for Topi though.
Sorry misunderstood.

Niemela got into it with some guy named Matt Abt towards the end of the 3rd today. More so he got facewashed by the guy, got a little rough, then (what looked like) chirped him the whole way to the box. Stood his ground though from what I could tell, no pushover lol

Fins are scrappy, I love them.

This just doesn't sound good at all. My hope is it is not COVID related (ie. Myocarditis). Just seems like it is far more complicated than just a simple shoulder injury.

Fingers crossed, but it does not sound good at all

The vaccines with myocarditis as a rare side effect are mRNA.

Russia does not use mRNA vaccines.

I’m doing some traveling out of Bangkok because I now can. In Kanchanaburi (think Bridge over River Kwai) and it’s stinking hot. Had to get out of the sun and get some lunch so I end up in a place with one other foreigner and about 6 Thais. I check out this fight - Hollowell ! - and just burst out laughing as he made his way to the dressing room. Loved it, and the reaction on the bench. Thx for posting this

It's really sad because he legitimately is one of the most talented prospects in our system and the only thing holding him back is playing time (still can't believe he wasn't picked for the WJC team lol).
I agree.

I think I may be abnormally high on Ovchinnikov, but the talent is undeniable. I think he would be turning more heads if he were in an NA league personally. But that's just a gut feeling. He is such a burner, and has the ability to play at the speed he skates at.

Overall I think I'd prefer him dominating the MHL rather then playing 2 minutes a game in the KHL. We have his rights indefinitely, so they can take all the time they want with him. But I do agree, it is incredibly frustrating to see him be boxed out from opportunities he likely deserves at this point.

Very curious to see how he develops over the next couple years.

Do you guys think that they should ELC him this summer, so he can develop with the Marlies, or even the Growlers to start if his game needs some polish?

They've given ELC's to Voit, Kressler and Villeneuve in recent memory, is he any worse of a gamble than they are?

We should bribe the russians into letting him play in the liiga. I was looking at daniil tarasov’s ep page and noticed he played in assat. If he can play in assat, no reason why ovechkinov shouldn’t be allowed to play in a superior development league.
