Marlies cough up the tying goal with 47 seconds left in regulation time to Willy’s lil brother.
In OT.
Abramov with a goal and Kral with another apple.
Edit: as I type, the Marlies lose in OT. Bah.

Alex Nylander is looking fantastic for Wilkes-Barre. I've said it before but I really wish we would have thrown something at Chicago to get him here. Pitt gave up nothing for him and he's looking like he could be a decent reclamation project.
There's always the hope he becomes a unqualified Ufa at the end of the year

Looks like Jack McBain (a player I hope we add to our prospect pool) will be named to the Canadian Olympic team.
Is there any indication he might be looking to skip out on Minesota?
He is from T.O if that helps...

In Minesota, he only has Hartman, Eriksson-Ek, V. Rask, F. Gaudreau and Sturm with Rask and Sturm as UFAs.

If he stays he could be in the NHL next year

haven't seen Abramov get many of those off this season, hope it's a sign of things to come.

I mean if he is good enough he could be in the NHL next season here.

Outside of his not turning pro yet, and becoming a free agent in the summer, and wishful thinking partly because he’s local, no.
But he’d be in a spot to compete for a job here next year, too. There’s likely a 3rd/4th line centre job open, and no clear cut internal option yet.
In general, I hope that the teams goes to its own well abit next year for an infusion of homegrown youth.
There will be a bunch of guys competing

If McBain signed here, he would technically be our homegrown youth too.

Unless no one thinks that Hyman was homegrown.

Agreed, and so would Ben Meyers…but that’s just more wishful thinking.

Holmberg and Steeves and NickRob should be in the mix next year, hoping JoeyA can show more in an energy role too. Add one or two of the FA’s, maybe the annual euro signing, and there’s some nice competition going.

No Ho Sang for the Marlies last night. Injured? I see he’s put up 5 points in the last 11 games, which isn’t very good.

There is also Marko Rossi, who may or may not end up as a centre, but if he can handle faceoffs at the AHL level, you have to atleast let him try in the NHL.

he got levelled a couple games ago, probably injured. He might also be going to the Olympics? So maybe it’s pre cautionary, tho if he’s injured I can’t see him being named to the squad

He's injured with a concussion. Took a pretty dirty hit a few games back. I can't remember who hit him but for some reason I think it was a former Marlie. I could be wrong.

If there's anything you can't complain about with Dubas, it has to be the drafting. It's wild how much better the Leafs have gotten at it since the supposed "Guru" Hunter left. He's gotten good value pretty much everywhere.
Yet there is lots of posters outside of this thread that deny it.

Seems every draft Dubas has been apart of, scouts, analysts etc. Are always saying we got great value out of our picks or saying "this guy is a steal". And then those prospects go on to have big years the following season and then people start saying this guy would go several rounds higher in a re draft. Yet some still don't want to acknowledge that Dubas and his scouting staff are doing a great job at the draft table and we have a deep pool.

I think hands down he is better at finding skilled guys with offensive upside.

I am waiting for him to really knock a physical style player pick out of the water, someone who actually throws a hit. Maybe that ends up being Knies.

Or if he can find a true defensive D man who is a NHLer id be over the moon happy.

Same can be said for a goalie, but those are apparently impossible to predict.

I think if we are looking at perceived value of the picks vs what we think we have got, he is doing really well. Time will tell I guess.

I think if there was an OHL season last year there is no way Voit goes in the 5th round. I’m not saying he’d go in the first but anything 2nd and beyond is totally plausible

Some of them need to make the NHL for that to be born out. Great drafts are based on the NHLers they turn out, not College and Liiga numbers so D+4 and D+5 will show if they have done a great job and their D+4s are only just coming out of the oven now The trending looks as good as I can ever remember though.

At the very least we haven't had a Rasanen or Korshkov lose value every season post-draft yet. Dubas' picks may or may not become impact NHLers but they generally have raised their stock since getting drafted. If we liquidated them for picks today, we'd likely get higher picks than we spent on them.

What the hell happened to Rasanen?
His last year he played junior he looked good, and decided to play overseas instead of another year of junior.
After that, from his stats it looks like he has just become fully washed up and he isnt even playing this year. Its a pretty insane trajectory for someone we took in the second round (where he was projected)
He played like 5 games on a PTO and actually looked decent, used his size really well in the defensive zone with an obvious issue being he needed to work on his skating.

Fair.
Use on the roster or in trade.
So far from ‘18, Sandin and Durzi are in the NHL, Kral and Holmberg are tracking for next year, and SDA is probably a viable trade chip.
That’s looking like a good start.
